Congrats JoeSlaughter! I'm just about to hit the 2000km mark with mine and I'm still so in love. I'm so happy with it and with every km I do I feel more confident with my choice in getting the Giulietta instead of an A3, 1 series or Golf. I do believe that those cars may be a little better built in terms of minor rattles and such but none of them give you the same feeling as the Alfa.

And yes, I'm glad you made mention of the cannelloni roles with red stitching. Easily my favourite part of the car. Its the nicest leather I have had the pleasure of plonking my butt into.

Have many happy kms and I hope to see you on the Alfa owner forum!

Rattles? See that would be a dealbreaker for me. Does your car have rattles?

agreed, i cannot stand any kind of rattling at all! I didnt notice rattles when i test drove, however, i am sure owning one gives a much better indication

No it doesnt...but from what I have read, which is contrary to what I have experienced, is that the build quality of the Giulietta is almost at the German level but not quite there. Im just deducing that a rattle or 2 will form if this has been properly tested. Only time will tell though as these tend to form dependent on the build quality of the vehicle and the roads you use . I also cant stand rattles and my Mini used to rattle like crazy!

All I can say...Its one hell of a car.

PS: The Royal wedding is boring...I decided to share my gf's excitement and watch it with her. At least the pizza was good ;)

I just came back from the dealership where I bought my car (there was a problem with my registration) and I saw a white Giulietta QV with almost every extra that you can get being prepared for delivery. This guy had a LOT of patience because he waited 6 months for this... He ordered it EXACTLY as he wanted it and had the guts to go with red leather! It is a white one with charcoal 18" mags (the turbine sport variety). The car looks SWEET! If you maybe read this; well played sir!

Sounds like mine :p save for the red leather

Did you pick it up on thursday last week? I was there when they prepared it for delivery and it is really one awesome looking car! Congrats bud!

@ Random; thanks bud. I also had a choice between the FSI A3 (DSG) and a Bluemotion Golf 6 and I must say that not only is the car a piece of work, but the service I got so far was outstanding! (in fact, I am still waiting for VW to phone me back...) Really glad I picked the Alfa over these other two!

I received a voice mail message yesterday from the salesman at Arnold Chatz who sounded very morbid asking me to phone him back about my car. My mind immediately thought that there must be some issue in Italy, workers on strike etc and he has to break the bad news to me!

So I phoned him and was pleasantly surprised to hear that my car had finished production and was getting ready to be shipped to SA. Should collect it on 1 July :)

Since ordering in January, it would be a 6 month wait. However, taking into account that I first made the decision to replace my car in July last year - it will be a total wait time of 1 year!!! 6 months to chose a car, 6 months to receive the car.

O well, at least you will be happy with your purchase in the end :)

Lol cause each time they "fix" the problem it ain't fixed. So on Monday I showed the main technician of Fiat group SA what exactly the problem is so that they know whats going on... They have replaced gear synchros and what not on the car. But I'm not complaining hehe. The loan car they gave me is also pretty neat and it's saving kilometers on my car.

Seems the Alfa owners still need to be qualified mechanics to own one...

Haha yea. My problem is very difficult to notice so thats probably why they kept on fixing other things that weren't really the issue. Hopefully now that they know what the problem is they can fix it. The car actually drives fine but I want it to be 100% not 99% so they gonna keep on fixing until I'm satisfied.

Seems there are a number of issues with its gearbox.

Surprised that didn't replace the whole gearbox like they did for Random.

Well I'm driving up their car and when the problem does not get resolved they will probably try replacing the gearbox.
