More importantly what was wrong with the 1st gear and why was there a gearbox problem with a brand new car :wtf:

Yeah I guess you don't expect it on a brand new car, but there is a inherent issue with its gearbox, loads of people having the same issues.

To the Giulietta and mito owners.
Do you guys actually have the start stop enabled? Does it make a difference? Is it annoying and lastly do you have confidence in it lasting?

I have it running and it is not intrusive at all. The first time the engine cut out I actually got a fright! :) LOL Thanks all ye nay sayers! ;)

My figures range from anything between 8l/100km - 11l/100km, depends on the driving "attitude" if you know what I mean. I mentioned before that although the car is VERY willing when testing the redline, it is not one of those cars that you thrash from a to b. You get such a great experience driving it that you WANT the trip to take longer...

I reckon if you really take care how you drive you should get the claimed figure of 7l/100km.

Thats delving into diesel consumption arena. Not bad.

The QV claimed combined consumption is 7.6l/100km, the 1.4 TB MA is 5.8l/100km.

Sounds like horse raddish to me, based on Joe's figures above.

Any idea as to why the QV doesn't come with stop/start? Salesman said it would have strained the Turbo too much...

no idea why the QV does not have the multi air engine. I suspect they might have issues with the engine size more than the turbo strain? Its the only reason i can think of

Yeah, I reckon if you get 7.6 combined with a QV, then you need to go have your cojones reattached... ;) I also think you will struggle to get a combined of 5.8 unless you take an open road (like from JHB to Durbs) and REALLY take it easy... (I think on 120kph your revs are in the region of about 2500 - 2800; so not in frugal mode. Maybe on 100 @ +- 2200?)

I reset my clock every time I fill up. So far I'm hitting 9.3 L/100km. I tend to get excited though and find myself putting foot. He other day I did a lot of highway driving and was sitting with 6.1 l/100km.

JoeSlaughter, admit, those leather seats are absolutely amazing. Probably one of my favourite things about my G.

Jip, GRK - this morning was absolutely FREEZING and I got in with a little bit of hesitation because I have driven cars with leather before and in winter it is not fun waiting for them to heat up.... But nothing - it was like sitting on cloth, only more comfortable!

I must admit, also one of my favourite features (apart from the dump valve when changing gears) ;)

Hah! My cloth seats now were freezing!! Only thing I was picturing was how much worse it would be with the leather!

Dump valve...or waste gate? Either way, I <3 that sound.

Errmmmm.... Not sure what the difference is between the two???? I just love the sound it makes when you clutch and it whistles at you - thought it was a dump valve, but might be wrong... :)

Dump valve waits for pressure to build up before it releases, but a waste gate dumps as pressure builds up... Right???
