Thanks for all the info posted in this thread!

I drive past an Alfa dealership everyday, and I've been forcing myself to not even stop and look...

But you've convinced me, I'm going to go have a look at one asap! :D

I'll post my impressions when I can!

Going to check out the Giulietta some more on Saturday and will in most likelyhood sign an offer if the waiting list is 6 months.
Now...8C Red or the grey?

Hi guys - I am trying to finalise a price for my car and the dealer has added two things which I don’t agree with: He told me the white is R1250 (that's fine) but on the invoice he listed "Ghiaccio white" R1250 and then a few rows down, "Extra series pastel" for R1250. Surely this isnt correct?

The other thing, I added the BOSE sound system and he phoned to say the BOSE isn’t a standalone system and I need to get the RDS radio with CD/Mp3 + speakers + dual antenna because "the BOSE is an add on, not a standalone system". Is this correct?

Appreciate your advice.

Query it. It might be as simple as a mistaken double charge for the colour.

Quite possible, but your salesperson should've told you about this beforehand. The standard head-units in many cars aren't compatible with multi-speaker and -amplifier setups. What's the difference in price? About R2k?

Difference in price is that I have to pay for the RDS radio with CD/Mp3 + speakers + dual antenna at a cost of R4250 in addition to the price of the BOSE system.
The BOSE description says "BOSE hi-fi system with CD/mp3 + 10 speakers + dual tuner + dual antenna" and costs R8000.

I fail to see how BOSE is only an add-on?

EDIT: Okay I phoned Alfa West Rand and they confirmed that the BOSE system is standalone and you do -not- need to buy the previous one.
I feel Arnold Chatz is just trying to rip me off... I have to get my car valued today so what do I tell them?

Probably an unclear description, but it matches with the European car configurator (in Italian) - the moment you select the BOSE option at €500 it forces you to add "Auto radio CD/MP3 doppio antenna" at a further €120...

edit

Where are you getting your prices from? I don't see an online pricelist on Alfa's local website at all... and the descriptions you give do sound dodgy, as if it should include the radio...

The dealer gave me their price list and what extras come as standard on the QV.

It just isn't clear one way or the other - unlike the Italian site above the UK pricelists specify a single price of £820 for the BOSE audio system, but with two option codes implying two components...

I accept your point, but is it fair to say that the consumer, me, should not be at fault for the ambiguity?

Ah I just can't see myself driving any Renault or Ford - no appeal to me whatsoever. The alfa (and the Honda cr-z) appeal to me on a primordial level :)

Honda CR-Z, now ya talking. A beaut.

I wouldn't go for red, black rather.
