Ye 35% looks great on my Mito so should look just as awesome on the Giulietta. Was the highest legal % anyway...

Did you also do the rear window in 35%. Does it hinder your vision at night when trying to reverse?

Yea I'm happy with mine. I drive the QV. I did have one or two small issues. One time when I started the engine it felt as if there was no power, so I stopped turned it off and restarted and it was fine. I took it in the following day and there was some sort of generic error on the computer which they reset. Did not have this issue again. Then my 1st gear is stubborn sometimes and I must then either go into second gear and then into first, re-clutch or just let the car roll forward a bit, but it is getting better with time.

I accept that there might be some problems, it's an alfa lol, but since I'm still in my warranty period I'm not to phased about it. The car does have it's quirks but the driving pleasure far outweighs the issues I've had with it.

I noticed this on my test drive as well...was a little concerned about it. The rest of the gears felt pretty good though. How many km's on ur car? Did you get it new?
If so, did you notice a power difference after 1000km?

I have about 19k on the clock at the moment. I bought it new yes. Notice in power hmm... Well to be honest not really although it sometimes feels like it was getting stronger and it might be my driving style but I'm getting bit more km out of a tank too.

Where did you test drive? What model? And when?

Edit : Ohh and I can't get my average fuel consumption to the supposed 4.8 on an extra urban cycle mine was always in the 5.x range....

hmm, according to the forums etc, the ecu limits power to 80% for the first 1000km or so to run the car in. This should be on all the multi-air engines so I am told!

Test drive at CMH Alfa Westrand...drove the QV about a month ago. Wondering if its worth the extra cash or if the distinct is a better buy.
teh sales guy also said there is no spare at all? Is that true?

/sorry for minor thread hi jack /

Ok well that might explain the increase in power I thought I was imagining it. :) It does not come with a spare so be prepared to fork out about R1400 for the tyre and another R1500 += for the jack kit and tool holder. I have not test driven the distinctive before so I can't comment.

Geez....is there space for the spare though? Or do you just keep it in your (very small) boot...
I have read the overseas models come with a space saver :(

The Giulietta QV is just too pricey for me, new focus ST is goign to be near 350k mark, as is the renault RS...If i had the cash, i would lean that way

Oh okay no worries ! I wonder if the Giulietta would be limited to 80% of the power before it reaches 1000km as well?

Going out on a limb here, but this "ECU limiting to 80% power" story sounds like tolly to me...

ECU is just a device that can be fiddled with ;)

Who cares what it does. The Giullietta is an amazing car. I haven't felt power like that in a 1400 since I drove an Uno turbo. I love this car, had a test drive today. Still looking at different finance options but I'm sure to get one in the next few months for sure.

I struggle to figure out how you go from what you quoted to what you posted.

No, I know. However I'm not sure how it could possibly. If you've got a given engine with a given intake and exhaust system, it can only ever produce a given power output if it's running optimally. It follows that the only way to limit power would be to mess with parameters that would cause the engine to run less than optimally, which will do considerable harm in the long run. It just doesn't sound right... Apart from limiting revs I just don't think it's possible, but I'd like to be proven wrong.

If you want the biggest load of crap spewed about a car, listen to a dealer. :D
