I struggle to figure out how you go from what you quoted to what you posted.

The ECU can be chipped. to even increase the power beyond the 100% mark even if limmited to 80% power. These cars are nippy as hell. So if's it's limmited to 80% power (which is pretty more than enough) I would love to see this thing at 100% if not more /drool

Dude... read the thread. It's been mentioned that the ECU limits power to 80%for an initial run-in period. I'm merely questioning the validity thereof.

No, I know. However I'm not sure how it could possibly. If you've got a given engine with a given intake and exhaust system, it can only ever produce a given power output if it's running optimally. It follows that the only way to limit power would be to mess with parameters that would cause the engine to run less than optimally, which will do considerable harm in the long run. It just doesn't sound right... Apart from limiting revs I just don't think it's possible, but I'd like to be proven wrong.

If you want the biggest load of crap spewed about a car, listen to a dealer. :D

Hmm I'm not sure hey. They all have DNA and normal vs dynamic there is a BIG difference in power, so they are all ready changing the parameter of the performance...

Many, many cars' go-faster buttons just sharpen up throttle response with regards to the engine. Variable power steering assistance and damper rates and boost and whatnot are of course a different matter, but beyond the scope of my musings... Of course the Alfa is turbo-charged, but limiting boost for 1,000km just sounds... odd.

Actually, I need to go check up how the old BeeEm M5 went from 300kW to 373kW at the push of a button...

Friend of mine owned the first GTR (older shape) that was imported into SA.
On the dash it had 3 Turbo buttons: "No Boost, Low Boost, High Boost" 3 buttons without the need to manually adjust the boost. No idea about the M5 though.

So, once everyone has received their Giulietta - are we going to do a breakfast run?
*cough* of course the QV has to ride up front :)

So guys, is anyone going to get the Alfa Blue&Me TomTom for the in car infotainment system? https://www.tomtom.co.za/en_gb/products/built-in-car-navigation/blume-tomtom-alfaromeo/

I added the connection for it and will get it at some stage - but apparently it is R8000 from Arnold Chatz, but they are currently having a special where it is only R6000...

I'm trying to get a comparative quote but have not found any SA store which stocks the product.

Anyone else had any luck?

Whats the advantages over just using a normal mobile gps device which costs a fair whack less?

your wallet weighs less.

True. With the Alfa variant of the TomTom - it acts as your car infotainment system (which is why I want it), you can use your steering wheel controls to control the TomTom and you can use it to dial numbers (in addition to being a GPS).

They tried to sell me the tomtom but I already have one...not to mention a smart phone with decent GPS.

I really wouldn't go for it. It's not worth the stupid money they are asking. Remember, when you sell the car your extras will be worth a fraction of what you paid. That's why I opted for a low spec vehicle.

Ok before you guys rush out to buy Mito's and Giulietta's have a look at these two forums. I have mentioned in another post that my first gear is a bit stiff and this month I decided that have it looked at. Turns out I'm not the only person.

http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-mito/252585-new-qv-1st-gear-a-little-tight.html

So when you test drive your car make sure that the 1st gear is smooth, it might be a bit stiff but should not struggle to engage when standing still. Poor Alfa there goes it's track record. lol

Ps. This problem is only on the six gear models.

Thanks for the heads up. Mine is arriving end of the month so I will look out for it. To be honest though, my cooper does this every day since the day I got it brand new so im not too phased. As the one person says, just de-clutch and try again. Im used to it. ;) Cant wait for my car!

Soooooo...my baby arrived. I dont want to hijack the other dudes thread so here are some pics :)

Its an absolute to drive. Worst thing is I never considered it to start with. I was all about the Audis and Sciroccos. All it took was one drive and some fun with DNA and I was sold!

The interior is black leather with red stitching. Beautiful soft leather...truly stunning! My phone camera and the sun doesnt do it justice...I took useless photos
