All 30 bank branches where you can get a smart ID or new passport

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is ramping up its efforts to enable South Africans, including naturalised citizens and permanent residents, as it moves to invalidate the older, less secure, green ID books.

Currently, 30 DHA-supported bank branches offer smart ID services in South Africa. While the number of branches has remained relatively constant in recent years, progress is being made in expanding these partnerships.

How many years has it taken to get to 30 branches nationwide? 10?

Meh prefer going to home affairs, You get a slot and your documents much quicker.

I'm pretty sure all 12 people in Kathu have smart ID's at this point already.

Who decides on which branches gets to do this???

4am q at the HA, and done by 09:30.

Still nothing in the Free State...
Nothing as always this things happens at places where rish people are staying not us poor once and yet qwaqwa home affairs has a very very poor service.

One would think that it would make sense to have at least one bank offering this service in the Vaal Triangle, which could cater for the needs of the people from Sasolburg, Vanderbijlpark, Vereeniging and even those from places like Meyerton, Parys, Heilbron, Frankfort, Deneysville etc.

Does anyone know if naturalised citizens can apply for SA passports through these bank branches? I know they're not entitled to smart ID cards, but are naturalised citizens welcome to book appointments and do the passport applications if they're clients of these banks?

Great, 30 branches. I am struggling months to get an appointment for an ID Card. Still no luck. Gauteng.
