The internal workings of a vast chain of Chinese internment camps used to detain at least a million people from the nation’s Muslim minorities are laid out in leaked Communist Party documents published on Sunday.

The China Cables, a cache of classified government papers, appear to provide the first official glimpse into the structure, daily life and ideological framework behind centres in north-western Xinjiang region that have provoked international condemnation.

Obtained by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and shared with the Guardian, the BBC and 15 other media partners, the documents have been independently assessed by experts who have concluded they are authentic. China said they had been “fabricated”.

However, the documents are consistent with mounting evidence that the country runs detention camps that are secret, involuntary and used for ideological “education transformation”.

Very convenient leak for those with an anti-China agenda who do not ordinarily concern themselves with the wellbeing of Muslims.

You won't see the usual suspects in the ME rioting about this, those governments actually support china wrt the 'camps'.

China has also been very busy destroying mosques, some over a thousand years old. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...hinas-mission-to-raze-the-mosques-of-xinjiang

but Xi and Trump are buddies, and Trump is buddies with the governments in the Middle East, especially the evil terrorist government that is the Saudi regime, he even gave the Saudis weapons to kill people with

Saw something by Larry Elder this weekend where a player was chastised for publicly taking the Hong Kong protesters side against the benevolent overlords. No one will say anything against daddy China for fear of hurting their wallets.

As a result of this oppression, I have heard that woolworth ban supporters have completely banned china mall/china city. All traders in lenz/fordsburg/laudium have severed its ties with China. Is this true?

What I find interesting is how everyone focuses on Muslims..... ALL religious groups that are somehow "un-Chinese" are getting the same general treatment, the Muslims just happen to currently have it worse. It's functionally illegal to really be Christian in any sense for example.

Just so I get this right.... are you saying that its functionally illegal to be Christian in China and that Christians have been persecuted under communist China in a similar fashion as is currently happening to the Muslims?

Christians don't exactly have a habit of blowing up when you suppress them...... they also don't try to form separate areas of political control the same way. See this through the eyes of an autocratic ruler not a liberal westerling.

Actual information flow has mostly been suppressed but I know that pastors who refuse to toe the line get long prison sentences along with torture and other forms of re-education to convince them that being a good little communist is better. Before such drastic actions minor forms of state intimidation is obviously first tried.

A big difference I suppose is they have come to believe that Muslims are beyond soft kinds of re-education which is what these specialized prisons are actually for.

Yes, the government has burned Bibles, demolished churches and arrested Christians and put them in camps. Just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean it isn't happening.

The Roman Catholics on the other hand have made a deal with China and they are left alone. In other words they sold out.

...

Not anymore, but the times of the crusades bear testament otherwise. I would also like to point out how the vatican happens to still exist as a psuedo independent city-state with a very separate religious-political control system. And lastly how the christian faith is actually quite splintered with different variety, catholic, dutch reformed, methodist, etc. There is an entire separate grouping that was created because one king wanted to divorce and remarry.
