Almost half of all South Africans do not use the Internet

I wouldn't be shocked to learn that some of the people who said they don't use the internet, spend time on Facebook or Twitter each day.

Sounds unlikely but the "appification" of websites might make people believe going into the Facebook app is not being on the internet.

The internet of all things...

Yet many companies will still insist on self-service portals and emails in an effort to cut down on their own costs.

I have seen a number of people say they do not have Internet access, but have social bundles - they quick to make WhatsApp calls, and do the most on social media. Have not purchased a social bundle, and I do not plan on purchasing such in the future.

Feels like a lot of people are sleeping on the power of the Internet... you can teach yourself so much with a high speed internet connection. Nevermind the social justice crap going on in the social media streets.

Oh they are... like my parents who say "I am too stupid to learn all this new fangled stuff"

or their brains
That is a difficult task for a lot of people to do. It's a lot easier to listen to, and believe the propaganda spewing from the political parties mouths. They'll do all the thinking for them. Not so? I mean they wear fancy, expensive clothes and drive equally fancy and expensive vehicles so they must be right.

Because it's usually faster than waiting in a queue for customer support to answer and deal with your query while scaling quite a bit better.
And then most of their target market has net/access to a device which has net.

Suspect you might have a point there.

We have around 20 million ACTIVE data users on our network alone. MTN, Cell C and TM must have a similar number combined.

That must add up to much more than 50% of the population.

Point 5. Increasing online threats mean older users face real dangers online is a serious and valid risk in South Africa. We can look at all the studies done in the US, UK, EU, Aussie and NZ. There are elder abuse laws being looked at. To make it worse, unlike a younger person, the elderly have no chance of financial recovery. What have we done locally to look at this problem? In fact what have we done about cyber crime, looking at the other countries?
