Hi everyone
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere - I've had a look around but can't find the info I'm looking for.
Telkom cannot connect us until after the New Year and we can't wait that long (nor do we want anything to do with them after the service described below) so can anyone suggest an alternative for our small business please?
I looked into iBurst about a year ago but was concerned about their downtime. Has this improved? Are there any others we should consider?
Any advice will be very welcome.
This is why we are NOT going with Telkom:
We ordered ADSL384 for our small business on 21 Aug from Telkom and were told it would take 23 working days to get it ready. After calling them repeatedly (and being on hold for 35 min + each time) we were consistently told that there was still no date confirmed for our line activation. Our request for a supervisor to call us back was logged but nobody bothered to do so.
Yesterday we finally got through only to be told that our connection is subject to a 'digital ports project' which is *estimated* to be completed on 31 Dec 2006! And then after that it will still be several weeks before we get connected.
Needless to say we are pretty livid at this potential 6 month lead time - and the 7.5 weeks we have wasted trying to find out what's going on. And that we were lied to when we were told originally it would be ready within 23 days. So much for Telkom's advertising and supposedly wanting to 'make business work'.
I've lost count of the number of people I've spoken to there but this 'project' appears to be a technical thing which we can't get around by escalating the matter. We understand this but are furious that it took 7.5 weeks, numberous calls and hours on hold to tell us this - and that nobody called to tell us about it, that we had to follow up ourselves (despite asking for supervisors to ring us back). We could have been up and running with another supplier weeks ago.
Rant over! It's terrible that others are experiencing the same thing - but also nice to know you understand our frustrations, because Telkom certainly doesn't!
