Amazing Service from Telkom

I phoned Telkom about 15h20 (a Friday afternoon of all times) and asked to be upgraded from 512Kb to 1024Kb (4Mb for that matter).
The lady (almost feel like putting her name here) was VERY polite and friendly checking the exchange and verifying my details. I asked how long I will have to wait, and the answer was a day.
Well, I get this feeling about 5 or 10 minutes later of “why do I feel it was going to be immediately?”

My word! The next moment my modem drops, tries a couple of times re-syncing...
It could not have been more than 15min's after the call and I am working on 4Mb!!!!!

Absolutely amazing!!!

Nice to see some people getting good service

Telkom phoned me yesterday to inform me that despite dragging me along for 6 months of excuses that I cannot have ADSL installed and they give no reasonable answer as to why, especially since the call before this was to inform me that the exchange was going to be upgraded mid October...SNO HERE I COME.

ps. Anyone wanna buy a reasonably new and almost unused Linksys wireless adsl router and linksys wireless usb adapter

All upgrades are done fast. It means they're getting more money from you so they will upgrade you as soon as possible, provided, of course, they don't have to do any more admin than the flipping of a switch.

Now if this was about an install, I would fall off my chair as my mind recoils in horror at their actual PROVIDING OF A DECENT SERVICE.

Doubt that's gonna happen.

No don't worry guys the world isn't endig. Telkom are just ****ting themselves because Neotel are finally up and running...well sort of. They will have to step up their performance because we all know that Telkom don't like dropping their prices. So hopefully good things will start from here on out.

I beg to differ Kasyx... I phoned 2 weeks ago friday to upgrade from 384k to 1024k, and am yet to get the upgrade (having phoned telkom at least once every weekday since ordering and escalating it several times)

Gee, I guess Telkom are so stupid they don't actually realise that upgrading someone faster means you get more money faster...

hehe sm68, nice to know someone else is in same boat I guess >.<

Funny thing is telkom gave us the number of some or other manager, so we phone him and ask... where is our line upgrade? And he says... we have so many orders we can't keep up.

Then I come here... and the first thread I see is this one :p *cruel irony* :(

It's really pot luck I guess. When I requested an upgrade earlier this year 192 to 384, before the free upgrade, it was done within 24 hours.

Mmm, a generalisation I know, but CPT and DBN do seem to be far more on the ball than JHB.

Add Pretoria to that list too (the **** list), phoned on 30 August for upgrade from 384 to 512 - still waiting 17/9/06. Actually feel like cancelling. Just more money for them. Actually i'm getting good speeds/throughput on my 384 line lately. Definately 'nippyer' than 3 months ago.

Spoke to a Telkom guy who parked outside my house yesterday thinking that he could help. He told me he doesn't deal with ADSL, doesn't know anyone who deals with ADSL, but the clincher was, he was sitting in his Telkom van playing Solitaire on his laptop!!!
