Amazon firing 10,000 workers in largest-ever lay-offs

Amazon.com Inc. plans to cut about 10,000 jobs, the largest ever headcount reduction at the e-commerce giant as it braces for slower growth and a possible recession.

The layoffs, which could begin as soon as this week, will likely target Amazon's devices group, responsible for the Echo smart speakers and Alexa digital assistant, as well as Amazon's retail divisions and human resources, according to people familiar with the matter.

Lol... "possible recession".... The US has been in an official recession for some time now. Only the Democratic government pushing the bar and trying to confuse people with the 'definition' of Recession.

Jeff Bezos isn't running Amazon anymore. He isn't involved at all.
Amazon is doing everything to do this in a civilized way; Elon Musk made a spectacle of it.
Elon is show boating and boasted and is running the company into the ground.

Elon Musk is a spiteful type of person with a huge ego to service.
He is every conservative's hero, he "gets things done" and "fires incompetent employees on the spot".
The reality ofc is that he makes those judgements, rather than consult widely.
If he is having a bad day or operating on bad information, oh well, he is the "big man"

You Elon Musk/Trump fans / America lovers aren't so big on understanding subtlety.

Calling the way Amazon treats its employees "civil" is bit of a stretch. I think I`ll rather take Elon as a boss than work for Amazon.

Elon seems to be doing great relying on his own way of making judgements. I have not seen anything spiteful he did, and I guess it`s probably impossible to not have an ego and be that successful.

Musk is no better - he dismissed a number of Twitter executes "for cause" so he could renege on pre-agreed packages:

He laid off 50% of the Twitter workforce and he did it via email. On top of that, they screwed it up and then had to recall some of the people.

He's since fired another couple of engineers for questioning his rants about Twitter, on Twitter.
