How do you get this as a South Africa and what are the associated costs (is it still cheap after import duty) ?
Im looking at the Garmin 935. It will cost me R9999 at Sportsmans. Now I can get 25% back via Vitality which leaves me at R7500.

I can get it for R5800 from Amazon. My only issue is whether Garmin SA will support the device if something goes wrong...

I know my sister imported a Garmin watch last year via Amazon, but beforehand she asked Garmin SA if they would honour the warranty on it, who replied that they would. Don't know if that's still the case, but it was last year.

Jup, saw that only after my post. Still looks like a good deal from Amazon

It’s a no brainer to get it from Amazon.

Nothing really has sparked my interest except for some spark plugs I ordered for my wife’s Touareg.

Yup, cheaper from amazon than locally.

If you dont mind me asking what happens if you choose to pay in dollars? Will our local banks charge you an extra fee for that?

No sure to be honest. Amazon used an exchangr rate16.9 ZAR for 1USD. The exchange rate currently sits at 16.4 ZAR for 1USD but I guess there are some fees included in the rate they use.

Im actually thinking of checking on Amazon.co.uk and camparing prices and devices just to see what I can get

I also want to buy stuff of amazon uk...the good thing is that on some items they take out vat before checkout so you end up paying much less than the listed price...yeah i've seen the currency converter charges like r140 for the conversion to rands,so im just curious as to what our local banks do.They still say that our bank may charge us a fee for using the converter so its confusing
