Amazon retrenching hundreds of Prime Video employees

Amazon.com Inc. is laying off hundreds of employees in its Prime Video and studios business.

Mike Hopkins, who runs the streaming video and studios division, which includes the MGM unit the company acquired last year, announced the cuts in an email to employees on Wednesday.

I still love my Prime Video account (US) as that enables me to subscribe to other channels easily.

I actually cancelled my Netflix account this month which was active since 2018 because they keep on cancelling stuff I like to watch and the content they do invest in is just not my taste. Like Altered Carbon, 1899, etc.

I might re-sub for a month or so to watch Drive to Survive, but it will not be a long term sub.
Too expensive and (IMO) crappy content these days.

As long as Amazon Prime don't allow you to filter the shows you can watch for free rather than having to rent or purchase, it will not survive.
