I wanted to find out whether anyone else in SA has been experiencing problems with Amazon SES (Simple Email Service)? Specifically, timeouts trying to reach the EU and US https endpoints since June? Nearly every 3 days or so, for anything from 10 minutes to 2 hours, I can't send emails or reach the API endpoints. It can't connect at all and every call times out. This is from a dedicated box with Hetzner (JHB). My first thought was it's an issue with Hetzner's network, but so far investigations their side haven't come up with anything, and last night I found that I couldn't reach the endpoints via my own ISP (Webafrica) for 30 min either. Same issue where it can't connect. So it seems like it could be a routing issue, and if that's the case, hopefully others have been experiencing the same issue.
