As doob says you dont have to. With regards to should you, well I have found that some drivers dont work so well on 64-bit XP, but otherwise if you have the time, give it a go and see.

Maybe other forumites can add some more specific stats.

willi dude if you use your computer for home based shyte like gaming etc

use 64 bit windows

if you use it for work and the like the only problem windows xp 64 bit has, is printer support.

printer companies are only making new printers with new x64 bit drivers

other than that your printers not working, you can find almost every driver for hardware

before you install it though make sure you have your m/b drivers are x64 bit ready by checking the website of the manufact :)
also try and have a 1 gig or more memory 2-4 gig would be good

if you can go x64 go x64 :)

I would say stick to 32bit :) If you are asking a question like this, it's best to learn about the different aspects of hardware and software first, don't throw yourself into x64 (you will die) lol!

As 'doob says most peripherals will need x64 drivers. I personally don't think you should upgrade as it's just a hassle and offers no performance increase.

i disagree with you there

gaming yes not much difference but omg its so much faster, things open and happen that much faster :)

i would be using it except i have 3 printers
1 colour laser
2 black lasers

if i could i would buy new printers just to use windows x64 bit :)

me a UNIX guy - 64bit better hands down. Was wondering about the state of win 64bit as it seems to have died down a bit.

Is VISTA gonna be native 64bit

well 64 bit died down because microsoft did not push it and alot of companies did not waste the few hours it would take to make drivers for it

so it did die down :(
