I see the madness has begun. You can get a 939 4000+ for under R1500.
If you have a 939 board and plan on doing a cheap upgrade do it now 'cause these babies won't be around for much longer me thinks.

Question...Is the AMD for 64 bit only?...
Not sure I completely understand the question, but if you mean to ask if 32 bit apps work on 64 bit systems, then the answer is yes.

From where?
Crest, Eurobyte or if you don't have a dealer account or connection I see Sybaritic has them for R1576

I wish I did. No matter what you buy nowadays by the time you've installed Windows they're bound to bring out a new chipset

I have a Athlon 64 3000+ socket 939.

Where have you seen the 4000+ for a good price?

when the 4000+ AMD chip arrived in SA I paid R4000 bucks for it isn't it ironic?

I doubt we'll have a price war, because this basicaly the only thing AMD can do ATM to combat Conroe, because AFAIK the cheapest and slowest conroe performs like an AMD FX-60

COme to think about it ... guess you're right ... AMD has got no other market offering to combat Intels Conroe ... so its down to price to make some turnover....
