AMD Ryzen 5000 South African pricing

I've bought every Ryzen CPU at launch (1700, 2700X, 3950X) and this is the first one I'm skipping, not because they're bad but because I feel the 3950X is already pretty amazing (and gains for my workloads with the new ones are minimal).

Glad to see AMD at the top of the charts again with some games, that's a very important thing they needed in order to erode Intel's mindshare further. Intel really dropped the ball not having any competition for the holiday season.
I think people on 1st gen and 2nd gen Ryzen will see a big uplift in performance. I recall one of the benchmarks (I think it was TPU) pegged the Ryzen 5 1600 at 61% relative performance to the 3600X, which is amazing considering the 1600 came out only three or so years ago

Looks really good.
Still sticking to my Intel 8700 for a while longer. It is still extremely solid several years later.

I like how South Africa pricing works.

5900x = $ 550 = R11000
PS5/XSX = $ 500 = R12000
Geforce 3070 = $ 500 = R15000

I believe that the Nvidia 3000 series is being price gouged, considering that there is limited product availability. It has also been pointed out in any various other countries where the pricing have been stable (or close to the MSRP). You also need to take the sales channel under consideration which brings me to Sony, Sony controls their product here and in most other places.

I am also a bit curious over the 5900X, some reviewers have pointed out that their results are indicating that it is an upsell to the 5800X. Many countries at this time are only stocking the 5600X and in these same countries the 5800X is only coming in December and the 5900X in January where I have seen some potential buyers in some countries criticise AMD’s launch as a paper launch. As I previously said in this thread, NA, parts Asia, down under have all the stock it seems.

I so badly want a 5600X right now.

I am angry at AMD because my 3900X is trash now ;-) Waiting to see what Big Navi reviews are like to see if I go 59X0 and 6X00 or whether I need to wait for next cycle. Really want a 5950X but probably can't justify it because my 3900X flies through most work just fine (I often forget a VM open when I play a game without realising it). But the numbers look so good on the new chips!

How do you mean the 5900x is an up sell to the 5800x?

I would maybe be willing to take that 3900 off of your hands for the right price :D

It has been mentioned, and Steve said in his 5600X review that the 5800X is strangely positioned in such a manner that it seems that AMD is pushing their buyers to the 5900X.

I am very impressed with the gaming performance of the 5600x, but at the same time my 3600 I picked up last year for only R3 799.00 is still performing like a champ!

Out all the components you could purchase, a cpu from evetech is actually a safe bet. Unless you're doing some aggressive overclocking, modern consumer oriented cpu's seldom fail. Excluding cheap things like a basic fan or more robust items like chassis, for everything else I would stay away from evetech.

Lol, I said the same to someone in the pc build thread and he got a dead cpu
It was just very bad luck but I still felt bad...

Yeah but I'm asking what it actually means. The one is an 8 core processor and the other is a 12 core. That's a pretty massive difference from a compute capacity point of view.

Same, this thing is going to last me a while. There's literally no game currently, I'm playing, that even comes to close to maxing my 3600...

Why do MyBB persist with Evetech pricing. They are not the only company in SA. What about Titan Ice and the others. Maybe not a kickback given.

Seriously, this a million times. For god's sake MyBroadband, stop giving this garbage company such an immense amount of free advertising (unless it isn't free  )

Use Wootware for your PC parts prices. Or anyone else really.

8700k still good enough!

My 8700 non-K is still flying. Just need a better GPU than my current 6GB 1060 for my newish 1440p monitor. Very interested in the RX 6800.

I don't know either. I am only saying what some reviewers mentioned. Steve's 5800X review should be out later today or tomorrow.
