I got my 5950X backorder in early with my wholesaler yesterday when the NDA lifted.

Finally replacing my 2500K.

Soon I will be able to game, while my video's are rendering in the background.

Edit: insider tip for everyone, if you need a board or RAM with your CPU, place your orders now, the good boards might be out of stock soon.

Wow, that's quite the upgrade  Enjoy!
I buy things to last.

Only replaced my 770GTX last year when it's RAM failed.

Still using my previous 2 monitors as well.

My ThinkPad T540p is also going strong.

PC performance has been so stagnant for the 5 years before last year, there was no reason to upgrade at that time.

How do these CPUs compare to Intel's in the professional software industry like Autodez Graphisoft, Trimble, Rhino etc.

Completely agree with the PC platform plateau in performance. All you really needed to Chang to was an SSD for a good PC experience. Most users are not gaming, live streaming and video encoding at the same time.

Yeah but I'm asking what it actually means. The one is an 8 core processor and the other is a 12 core. That's a pretty massive difference from a compute capacity point of view.

Video is out,

So basically, if you need the more cores, get the cpu with more cores, budget permitting, and for that reason it's not sensible to get the 5800x.

Basically, yes, pending on your workload (and use case).

All I want is this: B550, 5600X, 5800 XT and 32GB DDR4 (4x8).

8700k still good enough!

I'm currently rocking a 8700K, but will definitely upgrade to the 5900X or the 5950X if i can stretch the budget.

Might go for the 5900X instead of the 5950X and put more money to the GPU.

You reckon the 10% uplift is worth the money??

10% uplift? I'm assuming you mean in gaming only?

The 5950X is 3x as fast as the 8700K in productivity benchmarks on average - You wouldn't be buying a 5950X or 5900X if gaming was your only focus.

I mostly use my PC for video editing and 2D / 3D animation, so anything close to a threefold increase in rendering performance is huge.

I believe that the Nvidia 3000 series is being price gouged, considering that there is limited product availability. It has also been pointed out in any various other countries where the pricing have been stable (or close to the MSRP). You also need to take the sales channel under consideration which brings me to Sony, Sony controls their product here and in most other places.

I am also a bit curious over the 5900X, some reviewers have pointed out that their results are indicating that it is an upsell to the 5800X. Many countries at this time are only stocking the 5600X and in these same countries the 5800X is only coming in December and the 5900X in January where I have seen some potential buyers in some countries criticise AMD’s launch as a paper launch. As I previously said in this thread, NA, parts Asia, down under have all the stock it seems.

I so badly want a 5600X right now.
In Singapore - 5900x out of stock but they are taking orders and delivering next week. I know someones that ordered, lets see what happens.

5600x, know someone that went in yesterday to get one, had to order and got called today to pick it up so these are available here.

So odd, I know a guy in the Netherlands who had his 5900X pre order pushed back to Jan... but I guess the queue is long.

I see Wootware had the 5600X in stock for a few min until they were all sold out on Friday.
