To beat Intel in CSGO is quite an achievement, also by quite a margin.

They've been great for CSGO since Ryzen 3000.

I'm a little concerned that the entry-level 6 core option just went up 50% in price...that doesn't bode well for the future.

IIRC, the RAM used in those benchmarks played a big part in the bench results. I still use a Hasbeen with DDR3 1600 MHz, so who am I to speak.

I wanted to upgrade this year, at least the pandemic did it's part in my upgrade postponement. I will probably upgrade my CPU, mobo and RAM in February next year.

I was tempted because I'm on my PC like 10 hours a day now since working from home became a thing. But my motherboard won't support the new chips till next year - I might have come to my senses by then :p

We'll probably get more 5000 options when AMD decide to stop making Zen 2 chips. The stack at the moment -

3600 (6c/12t) - $200
3600XT (6c/12t) - $250
5600X (6c/12t) - $300
3700X (8c/16t) - $329
3800XT (8c/16t) - $399
5800X (8c/16t) - $449
3900XT (12c/24t) - $499
5900X (12c/24t) -$549
3950X (16c/32t) - $749
5950X (16c/32t) - $799

although a massive improvement, it will give even better specials on the 3xxx range now.

always rather look at performance per $ graphs and decide from there.

but damn! AMD is going to push intel till they make the jump!
You'd think that, but the 2600 is still roughly the same price it was a year or more a ago. We don't have that luxury in SA of older parts dropping in price unless it's 2nd hand

meh will hang on to my 3700x for a while. More bummed about having bought a 2070 super so close to the 3*** launch

If you're gaming on a 1440p display or lower, any boost to graphics performance over a 2070S is presumably irrelevant for 99% of games.

Just in time! I nearly have enough for my planned gaming rig.

Pretty cool to see AMD making CPU's again and not space heaters

I can almost guarantee that their will be price adjustments in favour of the consumer pending on Intel's launch strategy. As things stand, Intel will need to burden this out until somewhere 2022, because another 6-months delay, unless Rocket Lake is a miracle of sorts. I guess slight AMD price reductions in response to Rocket Lake.

Early adopters always have to pay the premium for that luxury (for valid and invalid reasons).

You know what I realised?

AMD has become... kinda predictable. I mean, in a good way. They have delivered the goods in the past, and yesterday was no exception. 26% more performance across the board for the same power, on the same process node. It is impressive stuff.

It has also become... a little boring! Like, even with the 3000 series, you only bought Intel if you needed the absolute highest framerates. Now, it looks like Intel can't even do that.

I mean, it is great, and well done to AMD. It is just hard to feel excited when Intel is doing so badly.

I have a 3600, I won't be upgrading to this. Just no point really.

Think I'll hold on to my 3950X this time. I have every Ryzen generation so far (1700, 2700X and now 3950X) but my 3950X is already so fast for what I use it for and their graph for code compilation only shows ~12% increase over the 3950X so not worth the upgrade this time.

A bit disappointed the APUs weren't mentioned in the briefing (which is what I'm after to upgrade to a really tiny but beastly rig) but at least I know what to sort of expect when the time does come eventually, super stuff. Also, as far as I'm aware, Evetech seems to be the only one selling the OEM-only 4750G at the moment outside of a prebuild but not willing to pick up a kit from them just for that hehe.

They have also started to charge the premium which cooperation normally when they have established product dominance, being the best alternative whether it is perceived or promoted as such. There are only two competitors in this market, numbers do the talking and there is no real niche.

It's amazing how clock speeds have become irrelevant for the most part.
I won't lie... that top end Ryzen is super tempting. Price is not too bad.
They are now on par with Intel pricing...
