They are now on par with Intel pricing...

$815 - Core i9-10980XE (Intel)
$799 - Ryzen 9 5950X (AMD) - N
$749 - Ryzen 9 3950X (AMD)
$549 - Ryzen 9 5900X (AMD)
- N
$488 - Core i9-10900K (Intel)
$472 - Core i9-10900F (Intel)

$499 - Ryzen 9 3900XT (AMD)
$453 - Core i9-10850K (Intel)
$449 - Ryzen 7 5800X (AMD) - N
$399 - Ryzen 7 3800XT (AMD)
$374 - Core i7-10700K (Intel)
$349 - Core i7-10700F (Intel)

$299 - Ryzen 5 5600X (AMD) - N
$262 - Core i5-10600K (Intel)
$249 - Ryzen 5 3600XT (AMD)
$237 - Core i5-10600F (Intel)

Take into perspective, when AMD launched the RX 5700 XT @ $399, the Nvidia 2070 RTX came in at $499 and many couch warriors argued the $100 premium to be too high.

I am not going to question AMD's pricing strategy, but only the brand attached person would deny that it is now positioned to be perceived as the premium product.

So no 4000? AMD is getting even more confusing with Zen2 being 3000 and now Zen3 5000. Wonder if they ever fixed that issue where updating the BIOS would cause older 1000's to lose performance.

Not necessarily, they shifted the desktop to 5000 instead to clear any confusion over why the laptop models had chips a series higher with specs from the series lower, this should be the last time the series number gets altered like this in theory and the next laptop models will have matching numbers for both now.

Question,

With the new consoles using 8 core processors... For the master race, does it not make sense to go for 8 core with the assumption that dev houses will now try to utilise 8 cores +? Which would mean in an upgrade we should exclude the 5600?

For creation, those extra cores does help a lot.

The current/last gen consoles also have 8-core processors :p
