AMD's RX 6600 XT has launched, and it looks a solid 1080p GPU

Graphics card prices are just plain disgusting...
A friend bought a Nvidia 1660 in Jan this year for R5000...which was steep
They're NOW floating around for about R8000....wtf

There better be massive discounts after Covid...

It's the substantially higher that's the problem. R4k isn't budget. How can AMD sell a card at a different price point than their MSRP.

Yay, this sounds right for me

380$ for a peace of garbage!

Will wait until prices are more reasonable, but when people are willing to pay, The companies will keep putting up the prices! Hope Intel release something soon worthwhile soon need another player here.

Better value by comparison to its current generation peers but depending on what you have currently, the value is questionable. It's probably going to end up ~40-45% faster than a 1070 while costing 40% more in straight Rand terms.

5 years later, zero progress effectively.

Lol I have an r9 280 (fortunately I won't be paying rands or SA gpu tax)

That's gonna be a healthy ~350% performance jump plus lower power consumption than Tahiti. That's more like it.

GPU tax is everywhere atmo...friends in Aussie and the UK get screwed as badly as we do. Covid - the great equalizer.

AMD aren't selling it, only AIB partners will be.
They sell the components to the partners with a suggested markup. So I can't see how chip shortages factor into this as it should already be included in their MSRP else it's false advertising.
