"Utopia's business plan
Cities sell low-interest bonds to fund the fiber network build-out.

The government builds the network, but only private companies can resell access to consumers.

Revenue is generated when ISPs pay the government a fee to access local customers.

Revenue pays off municipal bonds and operation costs."

Incentives for all to get involved in getting broadband out there.

If u listen to the kerry speaches he wants to get americano's broadband to be 100 times faster(1 Billion times in ZA speak) than the rest of the world.

Proud South african rip offs.

ironnicaly this is simmilar to the way sentech is roled out ...

1)they need xxx 000 000 to roll out towers
2)approch infrustructure fiananceing companmy
3)fianance house loans cheaply from euopean bank at cheap rates supplys sentech ...
4)sentech rolls out towers

executives get fat checks they prevent others using there network and supply a fraction of the service to increase proffit ... the country goes backwards and the return on the investment (3 above) is so low the euopean bank feels betrayed and feels our goverment is chimp run and corrupt ...

instead of opening up the network and useing it as a national resource ...

This on its own would be enough reason for me to vote for Kerry if I could...

Cheers

### What we need in South Africa is cheap 24/7, always on Internet for under R300 a month. ###

Did anyone notice the Sunday Times Article about Kerry's wife. She did all her studies in SA in the late 50's or early 60's. I cant remember the whole story now. But she sure knows where SA is. And thats saying a lot when it comes to Yanks.

Yes BTTB, that is because she was born in Maputo, Mozambique. She them moved to South Africa, studied at Wits, and then moved to the United States.

I would also vote Kerry if I could as fungus in a petri dish would be better (and more intelligent) than Bush. While most people in SA probably don't care about US politics, what happens in the US directly affects the rest of the world whether we like it or not.

A bit off topic but I had to laugh when Kirsten Dunst was asked what she would do if she were Spiderman and her response was "Kill George Bush!". She can't act but I want to make babies with that girl.[;)]
