Amount of patching for an out-of-the-box install?

After doing a brand new install of WOW and Burning crusade, how many Mbs worth of patches am I looking at before I get to play?

I know that the answer depends on the version of the new install, but I haven't installed yet and don't know the out-of-the-box version... so any ideas/comments would be appreciated

Get somebody close to there and copy their whole directory. It will save you a crapload of patching.

Actually no. There is a 60MB or so patch from 3.0.8 to 3.0.9

At the moment they are prereleasing some of patch 3.1.0 and there is a 600MB part out, but you don't need it yet to play.

might be better to get the Wrath expansion disks. Will save you a whole lot of problems

On my patches folder, from 2.4.3 (last version of BC) to 3.0.1 is 1Gb, 3.0.1 - 3.0.2 is just over 600Mb and 3.0.2 to 3.0.9 is about 120 Mb. So you are looking at 1.7 Gb to get from 2.4.3 to 3.0.9

If you get a WotLK disc from someone, that will get you up to 3.0.1. Then you just need to download about 720 Mb.

You'll just need to check what is your version for the game though. If it's a completely fresh install of BC without patches, I don't think it's 2.4.3. The Battle Chest is 2.3 and I'm not sure what the standalone BC version is.
