Analysts weigh in on Vodacom vs MTN investments

Top analysts prefer Vodacom over MTN

Wayne McCurrie from FNB Wealth & Investments and David Shapiro from Sasfin Securities said they prefer Vodacom over MTN as an investment.

Vodacom and MTN are South Africa’s largest telecom companies, and investors often choose between the two to gain exposure to the telecommunications market.

I own MTN shares, so I guess I can speak on this.

They were doing well about a year and a half or two years ago, but have since lost almost 50% of their value since then.

I am not yet bothered but am beginning to question my investment with them.

As for Vodacom, they are no different to MTN in terms of value. This is like picking from the same stock. Vodacom lost about the same value, they both are not doing that well.

Picking one is like picking the other.
