But I honestly don't buy it. CR is an astute businessman, I doubt he would fund the salary bill just for shytes and giggles.

Really?
At the time of the FW surrender he was just a (virtually) penniless comrade who was astute enough to be one of the first on the gravy train.

If he had any conscience he would be shouting about the ANC spending R50 million on a huge piss-up rather than paying salaries.

Have seen it from 2 questionable sources on the Boob recently(ish)...

He is a corrupt street smart politician, not a businessman, that's just a image he wants people to see.

Just tax the +-200 000 that keeps the country afloat a little more. It will make the decision for them to move so much easier.

Unless he is broke he must be a pretty decent businessman to have maintained or grown the wealth he was apparently gifted.

All successful business people are well connected.
Accompanied by being a politician just leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.
Same with Trump.... Cyril is Trump with a darker shade of orange.

Being a politician or being politically connected, what's the difference? I don't see why one should leave a bitter taste in your mouth.

Didn't say politically connected, just connected. Having to be politically connected as a business man is the definition of corruption.
Just a conflict of interest thing... Don't like politicians in general though... They're slimy manipulative narcissists

The 200000 have it, the rest will have to sell kidneys.

Its not just about money, its also about skills and all of that good stuff. Odds are if you don't have a few bar to invest you will need to have the skills they require to go overseas, and even then you are still fighting to get a job because most countries will prefer having locals employed before foreigners. Honestly, unless you have the big bucks or a very specific skill someone needs you are likely going to struggle to immigrate.

Being politically connected is a given if you want to play with the big boys, there is no going around that.
