A former ANC employee has been jailed for five years for embezzling more than R350 000 from the governing party.

Precious Dube, 31, was convicted of 52 counts of fraud. On Friday, at the Durban Specialised Commercial Crime Court, she was also given a suspended sentence of four years for 52 counts of money laundering.

Dube falsified bank statements and invoices to divert money into her account while a data capturer in the finance department at the ANC’s provincial branch office.

From January 2011 to October 2013, Dube falsified 52 invoices, totalling R1 524 447.45.

She changed the bank details of service providers to reflect a larger amount than charged. The ANC would pay the money into her account and Dube would pay the service providers and keep the balance.

Dube was caught after a financial audit. She admitted guilt when confronted with the evidence.

You are exaggerating, Jopie Fourie taught you well.
Yep - exaggerating on the below:

“I accept that there is a degree of remorse - she testified she apologised to her employer - but one cannot lose sight of the fact that she had 33 months and 52 occasions to reconsider,” he said. “Her contrition seems to have fully taken effect when the game was up.”

It was revealed in court papers that the ANC forgave Dube and wanted to drop the charges, but the State prosecutor refused.

The ANC offered to hire Dube back at a salary of R15 000 a month so she could use some of it to pay back some of the money she stole.

Davis scoffed at the idea, saying the ANC was treating fraud like “an interest-free loan”.

At least the ANC are consistent on their stance regarding money laundering, corruption and fraud ne?

Bet ya she's still a card carrying party member and will resume employment with the anc once she gets early parole.
Who cares what the ANC does with their criminals? As long as she won't be holding public office.

Still has a conviction against her name and the suspended sentence which means serving no jail time.

Only people who will hire her would be the Anc again since a background check which is mandatory for most companies will reveal her prior conviction.

Shows the level of ambivalence towards money laundering and fraud. Also indicates a lack of controls, which should be designed to prevent and detect fraud, since an audit shouldn't be when you find out of a fraud since that's not its purpose.

The anc is in public office and this is nothing short of an endorsement for fraud & corruption. It speaks to the nature of the beast...
Do you know what the policy of the other parties say on members with criminal records, are they expelled from the party?

Nope, irrespective of party they should be expelled for criminal record. She's employed by the party and commited crime against party.

That is the joy of people having their own things like their own political parties where they can set rules that suits them, it does not matter what you think, they are happy with how things work and there is nothing you can do, unless you join them.

The ANC is a morally corrupt institution from the top to the bottom. It has absolutely no ethics and no moral compass to guide itself. The organization rely on dishonesty, criminality and oppression to continue its existence. Hence the reason we are seeing everything we do on a daily basis.

It also speaks to the values and ethics of those who consistently support them, despite knowing how fraudulent and corrupt they are.
It is way more complicated than what you want reduce it to, if things were as simple we would never have had the National Party government in power for so long, our standards are not as high as we would like to believe.
