ANC gains 200 defectors in KZN

At least 200 members of the Inkatha Freedom Party and Democratic Alliance in KwaZulu-Natal have joined the African National Congress, according to the ruling party’s provincial secretary Senzo Mchunu.

Among their new members were senior IFP councillors who were welcomed into the ANC by its provincial chairman Dr Zweli Mkhize at a function in Bulwer.
Mkhize said he was pleased to see IFP members "coming back home as the ANC was their original home".

He said it affirmed that the ANC was a "home for all".

"Their joining the ANC from the IFP ahead of next year’s elections is proof that people have come to realise that the IFP has no political programme or any good policies to bring about change to the people of KwaZulu-Natal. People can now see that the ANC is the only party which can change society for the better," he said.

Among the IFP councillors to join the ruling party were Councillor Thulani Dlamini of Ubuhlebezwe Municipality, Councillor Ray Langa from Ingwe Municipality, Councillor Pinky Joxo from KwaSani Municipality in Underberg, Councillor Busisiwe Mncwabe who is from Ingwe Municipality and Councillor Mfundo Dzanibe from Umzimkhulu.

"These councillors said they were tired of the IFP’s archaic leadership and saw the ANC as the only party for the future."

Mchunu could not divulge who the DA defectors were.

Ok 200? Why couldn't they list all of the IFP defectors and name any of the DA?

I think they are fishing this out of their thumbs.

This kinda proves that the IFP was just another "pretend to be competition" party.
I'll keep a beady eye out for the report saying that the DA lost one of it's members to the ANC.

Who the frak cares...the ANC will be losing their 2/3 majority and the power will shift to the opposition. So the ANC's days are numbered. 200 defectors is so small a number that it wont make any difference.
I have it on very good authority that COPE membership forms are saturating the townships....they should be worried about this.

So lets say they have 200 new members which have defected from the IFP and the DA. The ANC has still lost 400 000 + members to COPE. These figures must have been compiled by learners who recently tried to write the new grade 12 maths paper.
