The mass march will highlight issues Soweto residents have with Eskom.

JOHANNESBURG – The African National Congress (ANC) says it's preparing for a mass march tomorrow morning to highlight issues Soweto residents have with Eskom.

Residents vented their anger on Friday after a 10-hour outage, saying the utility failed to tell them why their electricity had been cut for longer than the scheduled load shedding period.

Eskom has explained that the outages were not deliberate, but rather due to overloading on the system, largely caused by illegal connections.

The ANC's regional spokesperson Jolidee Mathango says the march is not only about the power cuts but also the installation of pre-paid meters.

“The introduction of prepaid metres has people asking why they were not consulted.”

Meanwhile, stage one load shedding is once again expected to last until about 10pm.

As I Select suburbs in Strand had a planned downtime between 06:00 to 17:00 on Sunday, the issue here was that the municipality only warned like every third house per block. Nobody marched.

Anyway, the ANC is losing the plot, they implemented a War Room to correctly communicate load shedding to the utility users. The Soweto outage, due to probable overloading, must had been tabled to this War Room.

ANC versus ANC. They are masters of deception just as they were trained during exile under the old USSR.

Transformers tripping from overloading due to illegal connections for free leccy, apparently.

payback the money, then if you get no leccy you can march to your hearts content with the full support of everyone else..

Not really. The march will accomplish nothing except what the ANC already planned. Soweto residents will get their wish, Eskom won't be hurt and the ANC will look good in the eyes of their voters. The only people who will be negatively impacted here is, once again, the paying middle class.

I wonder if this march have the support of the ANC’s National Executive. I hope they don’t because they will lose any credibility they might have.

Has the ANC, via any of their investment arms, fully divorced themselves from any and all deals involving Eskom?

I think I know the answer... but can some clever or knowledgeable person please confirm this?

EDIT: Include the trade unions' investment companies in this as well...
