One of the people on the ANC’s North West provincial task team set up to resolve the political crisis that developed under the leadership of former premier Supra Mahumapelo ... is Mahumapelo.

During a late-night national executive committee meeting in Cape Town on Thursday‚ the party leadership decided to disband the provincial executive council and remove Mahumapelo as chairperson.

Mahumapelo’s successor as premier‚ Job Mokgoro‚ took over as interim convenor. Mokgoro replaced Mahumapelo as premier earlier this year after widespread unrest which forced President Cyril Ramaphosa having to cut short a trip to the UK.

An inter-ministerial team found that several municipalities in the province were being mismanaged and irregular spending in the provincial treasury reached R15.3bn last year.

At a media briefing on Friday‚ ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule said Mokgoro would chair the provincial task team and Mahumapelo would be part of it as a “disciplined member” of the party..

irregular spending
Government loves abbreviated titles right?

I propose ANC should change their name to ANISC (African National Irregular Spending Congress) or CNIAS (Congress of National Irregular African Spending) ?

Mahumapelo edged further into the cold as he quits North West provincial task team

ANC provincial chairperson Supra Mahumapelo has quit the party’s provincial task team (PTT) in North West.

The PTT was formed in August to replace the disbanded provincial executive committee in North West.

Premier Job Mokgoro was announced as convener and Keneitswe Mosenogi as coordinator.

The PTT’s intent was to strengthen the ANC’s capacity ahead of elections in 2019.

The South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has dismissed a challenge by angry North West ANC members and its former leader, Supra Mahumapelo, to the disbanding of its provincial executive committee.

In a ruling on Friday afternoon, Judge Dimpheletse Seun Moshidi struck the matter off the roll with costs, due to a lack of urgency.

He said the applicants did not follow proper procedures and failed to file their documents timeously.

https://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/...and-ancs-north-west-pec-was-unlawful-20190206

The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has ruled that the decision by the ANC to disband the North West provincial executive committee (PEC) in September 2018 was unlawful and was to be set aside.

Delivering judgment, Judge Fayeeza Kathree-Setiloane said the applicants were entitled to relief and to reinstate the disbanded PEC within two days.

"It is clear that a right to a hearing before decisions are made are to be at the heart of the ANC organisation," Kathree-Setiloane said.

"It is common cause that the branches were not consulted. The NEC cannot act in isolation of the ANC constitution," she said. "The ANC's failure to consult before taking a decision to dissolve NW PEC was noncompliant to its own constitution."
