Goodbye TV licence — ANC wants a new tax

Communications minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni has said the African National Congress (ANC) supports the scrapping of SABC TV licences in favour of a household levy, Eyewitness News reports.

While presenting the ANC communication commission's resolutions during its December national elective conference, Ntshavheni said TV licences are not a sustainable way to fund the public broadcaster.

Unless you pull down your TV antenna, DSTV dish etc to show you have no possible way to receive the service then i doubt there is a workaround with this

And the pathetic, "poor", freeloaders, will possible be exempt from the new household levy.
Another way for the ANC to buy votes

Still a long way to go before it gets spotlight attention. Just another Tax that needs Outa to fight.

They pay a drastically reduced fee already. Probably many don't pay at all. How many inspectors are going to traipse through slums at night checking for licences?

Exactly.
The ANC will use the exemption of the household levy for freeloaders, to buy votes.
