Johannesburg - A burglar was arrested in Tembisa on Monday after he left a trail of washing powder from his victim's house leading to his home, Gauteng police said.
Spokesperson Cynthia Kleinhans said on Tuesday that the victim arrived at his house in Zone 3 and noticed that the door was broken.
"The house was in disarray. It was discovered that cellphones, a television set, clothing, washing powder and blankets were stolen from the house," Kleinhans said.
He found footprints and a trail of washing powder leading from his front door.
"He followed the trail to the house of a 28-year-old man where he found all the goods stolen from his house."
Kleinhans said police searched the house and recovered a stolen pistol.
Further investigations led police to another house where television sets, clothing, shoes and car batteries were found.
"No arrests were made at this address and the police are still searching for two other suspects."
The arrested man would appear in the Tembisa magistrate's court soon.
