Android folder clean up

So the other day I had some weird loop error on my phone. After a bit of research, the only answer was to do a hard reset and start from scratch. I was actually looking forward to it as my phone has a bunch of crap on it.

When I recovered, I realised that I hadnt really lost anything. My phone was still full and messy all my old folders existed, except for the app. All configs for the phone had also reverted to default.

Now my question is, how do I find out which folder is taking up all the space. My phone storage indicates 2.5GBs free of 11.5GBs. Now, I went through and tried to do a clean up but I was only able to free up 2GBs. I checked the usual culprit, photos, and thats about 3.5GBs.

What is taking up so much space? Any apps to help clean up?

I dont want to start from scratch again as setting up the phone the way I like it is a mission...

download a folder size checker on your computer, plug it in and check.

Oh cool, I normally just plugged the phone in and used Linux Disk Usage to see what is for what on my phone.

Good to see I can do it on the phone now :)

Try this: SD Maid

It has a function called "Corpse find" that will find files related to apps that are no longer installed on your phone, and delete them.
This is especially useful if you have rooted and tend to change roms often, because changing a rom does not uninstall apps first, those apps are left behind on your SD card, but don't show up as installed once you've changed a rom.
