Couple months back i was in a pickle, galaxy s2 or iphone 4s. Mate at work went with a 4s so i thought id be different and got the Samsung. So two weeks back, his iphone's microphone gives up. So id takes his 2month old phone to Vodacom for a warranty repair. 48 hours later he gets a ball from Vodacom informing him that his iphone(which he treats like gold), is liquid damaged and that he should cough up 4500 bucks to have it repaired!! I mean hell! That is wild! So anyways, he tells them to go hop go a lake and gets it back as is(perfect besides the Mic). So i go with him to an apple tech i know and low and behold, there are 5 more iphones there with similar issues. Opened it up and no signs of any liquid under a microscope. Mmmm! 30 mins and couple hundred bucks later and the iphone is good as new.

So, Mr Vodacom, R 4500 for a microphone! Lol, and all the while i was snapping beautiful photos of probably R 100 000 worth of apple tools, that were bust

Gona rag him for a while!

This seems to be the standard answer for cell phones sent in for repair to some repair centers (liquid damage ).
seems some of them have found a cash cow :wtf:

I don't understand why people always feel the need to rag on the iphone..

I myself own a SGS2, and while I totally love it, it also has a common fault list as long as my arm. Likely longer than the iPhone's one.

My mom's BB was labeled by Vodacom as "water damaged" too. Yet there's no way this is possible. It's becoming the common blame factor now.

Even my Motorola Defy was BER because of liquid damage. The only problem was the indicator ?LED was on constantly.
The irony is the Defy is water resistant.Motorola replaced the phone for me in 3 days flat with a brand new one.. I have spoken to one of these repair centre manager types and he says its the sweat from peoples hands...... um ya sure!

Lol, no dude, Im not gona rag him about the iphone, Im gona rag him because the guys at work have been giving me grief over the Samsung. Just a bit of sweet revenge. Really like apple products myself, just wanted to be different from all the guys at work so i got the Samsung, and i font regret it for even a second. Big downer on vodacare east London though, and its not the first time i have heard of them wildly over pricing a repair

sorry to break your heart (being an android user myself), but this could happen to you, there is no iOS v Androd here.
