I think you're confusing their reaction with them not liking you. I can talk that in my experience that my French and Spanish colleuges have been quite empathetical.

I did not say it was actual conversations, I have seen enough random reactions from online videos (usually with leftist activists) innocently and politely asked their opinion to know the obvious truth. But then again it might just be a thing with leftists hating us.

I remember one particular vid, the dude was just handing out pamphlets on a normal day, some people were respectful but some went from curious to outright frothing at the mouth. One actually went as far as saying "they deserve it."

So no it's not a case of "dude it's on the internet" these were actual random reactions. When it comes to activists though the general reactions are the expected ones. The left hates us and the right are dismissive seeing as they are the only people that really matter in their own eyes.
