Those annoying cellphone adverts. Friend finder etc that costs something like R60 bucks a week. Has anybody been caught out?

Just curious... I know those apps dont work but just wondering what you actually get... some dummy program or what?

There must be some people that they are catching. Otherwise they wouldn't still be up and running. Me thinks the victims are too shy to admit.

my gf's mom has fallen for it a few times, and my father was also strangely enough registered with one of those sites (adult nogal), eventhough his phone can't take mms etc....

...but to de-register him, took just a phone call (used a landline just incase) and a computer voice said to enter his number and ta-daa. no more r15 a week charges on phonebill

I really don't get people who buy ringtones instad of just using their mps collection on thier pc's. These days I use my cellphone to surf the net a lot these days and it's expensive, me thinks that I need to buy data bundles, but i'm not sure how they work though.

Now I see there's an X-Ray add-on! Also a fake virus that will make your friends think their contacts are being deleted.

Seriously, if people are buying this stuff I could make a ton of money out of it. Turn your cellular phone into any high-tech piece of equipment you like! The new Safe-Cracker© allows you to point your phone at any safe and crack the code! Just send 'sucka' to 3-13-dumbass!

Point your Alien-FINDA© up at the sky and see where the extraterrestrials are! Send 'clueless' to 0800-SIGNEDFORLIFE now!

What moron falls for this BS?!

Well if its children they're exploiting (and by the look of it, it is), then it should just be outright illegal.

Any adults fooled into buying this stuff should give themselves the mandatory facepalm and accept the loss. :D

All these apps and ringtones are available online anyway, you don't need to subscribe to anything.

I bought a Vodacom simcard last yr and suddenly R5 a day was disappearing from my credit. Turns out that Vodacom hadn't givn me a 'new' sim card after all as I was being charged for a service that the previous owner of the sim had subscribed to. I also received roughly 3 calls per day from Nedbank as they were chasing down the lady who owed them a large amount of money.
Took me 3 days to resolve the subscription issue, but chucked the card after the bank wouldn't let up

That is just disturbing.

I know from working with company cellphones that they just not let up these people, no matter how you explain that the person does not work for the company anymore evry end of the mont the new user get the calls from Fochini asking for their money. and you can explain and explain they just do not listen.

Tell me about it! Old business partner left and his cellphone was paid for by the co. on debit order with Autopage. I nearly had to go on a shotgun rampage to get that thing cancelled.
