Well, Mantashe is Cyril's chief lieutenant, so of course he will get what he wants. Cyril will give in to anyone if it helps him retain power.

The socialist solution to SA's power failures will only be solved once Eskom collapses under its own weight.

One would hope so but look at ZPC (Zimbabwe Power Company) which has a total generation capacity of 1960 MW and still holds a monopoly of transmission and distribution.

Zimbabwe has no industries left after their EWC process and therefore no capital. Also, Zimbabwe isn't a democracy.

In SA, there are people who have managed to survive to this point and still have enough capital to bypass the state.

Exactly. SA will correct, and quickly, as soon as people vote a decent government into power. This load shedding, as frustrating as it is, is necessary in removing the ANC from power. This hurts everyone, especially their voters.

Just when you think that the ANC has run out of stupid ideas, they deliver yet again

Well in South Africa, it will be people, specifically ANC supporters, not rocking up to vote that will initiate change.

Practically how much difference does it really make?
Both Mantashe and Gordan are dinosaurs with no solutions but all talk. I am starting to think that the solutions will not come from government and that we need something like a private-prosecution equivalent to the energy crisis.

Solidarity CEO Dirk Hermann said there are two main reasons for Eskom’s collapse – corruption and race-based policies.

Corruption and greed have seen criminals steal the power utility dry under the guise of black economic empowerment (BEE).

Race-based policies like affirmative action have destroyed institutional knowledge and skills at Eskom.

Great news, Pravin is the worst he destroyed SAA and was about to destroy Eskom. Hopefully Transnet is taken away from his hands as well.

It's all good. Rumpies is meeting with his cabinet to end power cuts (who knew a simple meeting was all it would take...) so loadshedding should be a thing of the past soon.
