LOL Lancelot wtf are you going on about? What conspiracy thing are you talking about? No, honestly.

The one you seem to be referring to where someone, somewhere is causing this... and it does not take more than a few brain cells to work out who is probably being referred to.

Somebody, somewhere up the hierarchy is lining their pocket.
As I said before, somebody is making a killing of this.

That someone is the OPEC countries... why can't they just give us oil for free? Why not shave a few cents off the price?

Who cares about other countries, I'm sure they have problems of their own. Who's to say that they aren't being screwed too? Are you telling me it's not possible to shave off a bit of the tax levy, just to ease things for consumers a bit?

Well I would not care about other countries either but you seemed to make it a regional thing when you mentioned that I was being pro-South African. I merely pointed out that this argument has nothing to do with my views on SA but rather the realities of fuel prices around the world.

They could drop the tax all together. Wouldn't that be nice but then the next man along will start moaning about the state of our roads etc. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Must be great ruling a country.

I'm sorry if not everybody is rich like you and is just willing to fork over any amount provided without questioning it. I apologise to your majesty on behalf of the man on the street.

Now you are just showing signs of falling apart in this discussion.... this is usually the beginning of the end when someone starts being sarcastic and before long will resort to straight insults.

EDIT : Oh, and by the way I find it interesting that you took exception to what I was saying even though I made no specific reference to your posts. Must have hit a nerve there?

The point being who's to say that other governments aren't cashing in too? I don't live there, I live in SA so I'll comment on what we've become accustomed to - ministers buying lavish luxury cars and living the life in first class suites at 5 star hotels

Funny, I don't see any evidence of any improvement given the state of our roads. I see potholes and lanes that are barely wide enough to accommodate a small saloon car. If anything, the state of our roads have deteriorated.

The reference to me was obvious. Or would you care to comment on who you really were referring to?

By sarcasm and falling apart in a discussion I'm assuming you mean something along the lines of these gems:
Yeah, that's right Smooth THEY are all out to get you. It is all a conspiracy.

I am totally impressed with the fact that the ANC is so powerful that they even have control over the fuel price in other countries and are able to line their pockets in these countries too! (But then again I must just be seeing that because I am "so pro-South African" and unlike the other blinkered "anti-anything in this country" types).

Ha ha so many paranoid people in this country... THEY are out to get us! THEY are ripping us off! Look here is the proof! ha ha

You rest your case but you fail to answer my query relating to the part in bold above.

Not too sure what I failed to answer...if SASOL is producing up to 38% of the fuel that we use, they should be able to have an influence on cost.

They choose TO DO NOTHING, however, and continue to post multi billion rand profits whilst the consumer is being forced to their knees with price increases!

Don't forget that we are given the excuse that we have massive inflation BECAUSE of such factors as runaway fuel prices...SASOL could do something, but they prefer to line their own pockets along with the Government!
