Hard to believe though...we're paying over 7 bucks per liter and we're a strongish (by darkest Africa standards) country. The US of A is in an economic crisis, amidst a great recession/depression/wat ookal and, by converting rands to $ and gallons to liters, they're paying about R4.50 per liter. Figure in their huge credit crunch and it all starts to seem a lil bit fishy...Regarding the Sasol synfuels on page 2, I heard somewhere that they can sell it for around R3 per liter and still make a profit. Lucky for them the regulations board stipulates that all petrol prices must remain the same, so at the time when petrol was over R11 per liter, they made well over R9 per liter if my source is accurate. Well thats what happens when you have a country's currency being used as a world reserve and trading currency! The dollar is always going to kept artificially up. Personally i hope it changes..

Guess we have to wait until next yr to see what will happen(decision will be made, apparently as if it isn't made already) but with americans, most of the countries will large stock piles of dollars in reserve and countries who benefit from veto + military presence etc will be wanting things to stay the same. Just hope, if they do change it, it wont be to another country currency as that would just shift power which is not exactly better.
