Massmart, which is in the midst of a turnaround strategy to stem annual losses, has to foot a R650m insurance shortfall after damages caused by the looting, arson and store closures during the civil unrest cost it R2.5bn.

The size of the insurance shortfall is a big blow to a company that has been loss-making since 2019 and has brought in three top Walmart executives to reshape the company...

Paywalled article, but why wouldn't he leave? Good luck Mr Jones.

ANC must be so proud
of course, its an African success story,
the Potholes, the load shedding, the rampant corruption, the fuel hikes,

we are showing the world we are a Roaring success.
and people obviously agree, as they keep voting us in to do it all again-again.

The trouble is, we suffer, the rest of the world knows what Africa is like and doesn't give a shyte. Well Germany seems to have their consciences bothering them of late.. who knows.

African problems... rest of the world ain't got no time for Africa, except a few who want to give the ANC yet another gravy boat refill

Interesting, I wonder if he's leaving the Walmart stable altogether, or just moving to a role in Aus within the Walmart stable?

Could still be in the Walmart group.
Not sure why though, Massmart has been doing poorly for a while now, even Dion Wired closed down. Makro prices are also ridiculous on 90% of its products.
I wonder if online retail is affecting them even more the past 18 months.

Good riddance. He'll soon find that Ausfailia is a nanny state. I hated it there because of the badly cooked kangaroo steaks too.

My one factory manager resigned yesterday. Heading to Croatia. Now I am screwed. Doubt I'll find anyone suitable to replace him.
