Well, seems that Linden tower is alive !!!!!!

Linden tower performance:
Minimum = 62ms, Maximum = 112ms, Average = 82ms

Northcliff tower performance:
Minimum = 78ms, Maximum = 1982ms, Average = 340ms

Anther few towers and gauteng might start getting stable ... great news !

Regardtv, how do you know the Linden tower is alive? In fact I, living in Linden Ext., have been experiencing terrible speeds and disconnections today. When I called helldesk they told me 1. DrTCP (to which I said we're past that stage with them) 2. no prob but guy will investigate 3. answering my Q about which tower I am on - "computer that shows tower is broken. but people in Linden Ext. connect to Pine(whatever ... I am nto from SA - first time I heard this suburb name so didn't remember) ...upon mention of Northcliff - no answer ... then wrapped it up with "We will phone you back" (which they didn't)

So back to topic - how do you know about the Linden tower?

While Linden IS live .. I'm sure it will be in testing mode for a few days before becomming "official"... I can say that the tower was not running too well between14:00 & 16:00 but now seems like it's humming along.

It's located on the church tower at the top of 1st Ave (i think it that's the street name).

As to how I know about the tower ... LOTS & LOTS of bitching at the problem I have on Northcliff...

As the the slothdesk ... they would be VERY wrong to just assume Linden ppl connect to tower x or y ...

From tests done at my place by WBS I can see between 4-7 towers at any one time .. and my UTD tries to connect to most of them at some time or another....

It's like I live in the centre of the radio version of the bermuda triangle !

well thats sort of how iBurst was designed to work, you're not supposed to camp on one tower unless you have to

My Point of view :

Who knows it could be up and Running but yet again it aint on there NETWORK status site/rollout as live Yet. I did hear about the base station coming up 1st/2nd week of July maybe today it should be up and running, they busy testing to see if its working the base station b4 putting it on Live mode on there website, same thing happen with the base station they put up near my place, It was like having problems got disconnected couple of times but the next 9 hours it was up and running smoothly but could only connect to that base station .. Since it was just across the Road from me...

iBURST would kick ass if they made some sort of new Firemware for the UT modems and could pick up which base stations it can detect and bang you can choose weather you want to connect to that base station but that wont ever happen.

i dont know hey, i live like two streets away from that tower and have see no changes, i doubt is online

If regardtv is sure it's online then I say he's right, when Olivedale-BS went live at the end of March [2005] it also did not appear on the iBurst.co.za Network Status page for several days - I assume bcos someone had to come along & do some "coding" to accomodate the new base-station & get it to appear on their website...:rolleyes:...also when I called the HD at the time, Tyrone I think it was, said he didn't know anything about it, but there was an unnamed [but numbered] base-station on their plasma screen...so in a few days time you will possibly see it listed...

Well, I would be interested to know when ROODEKRANS is supposed to be up...
They said it would be up end April and we're now in July and still not operational.

Well, it IS up ... for the first time in 3 months I have consistent pings under 100ms during the day .. amazing. Also got confirmation of this from wbs.

Kei, Roodekrans & florida were supposed to be live ages ago ... agreed ... will ask around... but afaik they "may" be live soon ...

Linden was in the "may be live soon" phase for 2 months ... grin

They don't even put an ETA when it will be up.
I remember about 3 months back there was an ETA when it would be up and running but i think they forgot about it and it didn't go up they date it was expose to go up and running
