Hi,

Well, I've used iBurst for a month now and it's FRIKKIN AMAZING!!! I've only dropped my VPN connection twice, but who cares, Remote Desktop doesn't close your sessions, and the fact that my Multi-Billion DOLLAR company I work for dropped their connections (for hours at a time, unlike iBurst, which was 5 seconds), means that we're still imperfect in this country. But, all in all, I am happy.

All I read are complaints on this web-site. Makes sense though, because who ever goes out of their way to pay a compliment, but when you're being beaten by the Big Man with no-one to listen, you need to vent your frustrations. Hence, this forum (it appears). I know about this. Check out discoverycard.blogspot.com for a Right Royal Rant.

Anyway, hope it picks up for the rest of you.

Me.

It is amazing how these newbies pop up regularly like clockwork at the start of a month with all praise...

Yeah I remember when I did that as well.

But then again in the beginning I never had any problems.

haha shame, dont be to hard on this newbie I think hes the real deal and not some reseller/employee trying to sway opinion because he asked how to get around p2p packet shaping.

geniosity you'll probably find the people who are hardest on iburst now are the ones who paid the most proase and whilst this forum will naturally attract complaints about any service... there are problems with iburst we need sorted before we can get back to loving it.

were you on dial up before? because from dial up to iburst... your jaw will drop and it will seem absolutly awesome. But when you're used to 1mbit and these weird things that happen that always seem to benifit wbs and never the customer and stuff like the whole network dropping today... well... you get pissed off.

connection stability (by that I mean the amount of time you're connected) is good and beats adsl but look at speed tonight, its the first and saturation is so bad when everyone is uncapped the speed is erratic to the point people want to blow their brains out. If you are from dial up as I suspect 33KB - 80KB/s fluctuation is fine but when you're used to 1mbit and have been on the network for long you mind is basically at the point where you realise you only get a certain amount at full speed and you want full speed when using that amount.

well, you're right about the whole "coming from dial-up". But my question is, what do you really need the constant bandwidth for (serious question, not rhetorical). My streaming works like a charm, my downloads are coming down flying.

sorry, flying is (as newbie says) not CONSTANTLY 1MBPS, but I never do one thing at a time, so it doesn't bother me. For now, as you say.

for whatever i choose. I will never justify what I download to anybody.. I paid for that bandwidth, I expect that bandwidth and if I dont get it I will be pissed off and air that right here.

I already know my area is a good one, probably the best station in GP, I get fantastic speeds and it used to be constant (and that was awesome when iBurst was uncapped) so when I see the network is saturated on the first and I am using my cap without getting the full speed... I am going to be pissed off if im downloading/uploading important work stuff or whether im watching funny clips... thats my right, I pay for somethign and thats what I want

yeah, its fast and we like fast and its fast cuz everyone went to bed and its all great and we can rub our penises (penii??) together and have a little bandwidth party.

I dont deny it goes fast, god knows ive mentioned it enough times on this forum... but what about tomorrow morning when im doing proper stuff, will it be fast then? shit no it wont and thats the problem right there. I just want more stability like i used to have before these new people decided to come on my network. and when i use the speed i dont want to pay for it

I do have to confess one thing that will probably make the WORLD of difference. I work American hours (i'm supposed to be working now), so the company is paying for my subscription. Guess I can accept lower quality if I don't have to pay for it.

Thats not too bad but could be faster, maybe you are connected to a busy tower or far from a tower.

When you are not busy try find the sweet spot for your connection by moving the modem around to different locations in your room, even small movements can make a difference.

Well I'm a relative newbie as well .... 2nd month & I'm starting to understand what the 'old timers' are getting at.

My uncapped experience was terrible last night. All I need was 2 files from Microsoft (not some obscure site). First one came down at a pissy 24 KB/Sec, second one I couldn't get down .... browser kept saying 'connection reset'. This was after 10pm last night.

I believe this has nothing to do with the radio network, just basic IP network mgmt (e.g. proxy, bw mgr. etc).

I think its really time someone decent bought iBurst .... and gutted the place ... IP core, staff, wallpaper ... the lot!

I'm happy 85-90% of the time. I signed up in April, just before official launch.

Granted, I'm about 300m away from the Olivedale tower, and I do have 5 LEDs all the time, but so far my experience was mostly positive. There are some bad patches like towards end or beginning of the month (when leeches start to downloading their distros and movies  ) but overall I'm quite happy with the service.

So much for positive comment ...
