Any good, free focal Black & white converters?

Only way I would be able to do that is with adobe photoshop.

Select the area you wanna keep in color, then invert the selection and take the color out of the inverted selection. That should leave the original section with color and everything else without color.

Saying that, I am not a graphic designer and my method is probably very crude. Hope you find something kewl. Didnt know Picasa could do that stuff.

Yes picasa is really not bad for a quick touch up.

this option basically makes the whole thing barring a little/large dot that you can move around.

Any photo editing software capable of handling layers and masks will do the job.

Just be aware that grokking the gimp was written for an older version of gimp (© 2000 if I remember correctly). Some of the tools might not work as stated.

Yeah saw that it was but the basics stay the same thus far and I just now sometimes have to search a bit as the menu trees are not all the same any more :)

But all and all it still is better than just trying to figure out everything by myself :)

Nice shot of the car. I will stick to gimp for the moment as I am now enjoying the "new program" learning curve.
