Any interest in an IoT and electronic hobby shop?

Hey

My hobby is electronics, but I find myself month after month waiting weeks for electronic components to arrive from abroad. If my package eventually arrives, I realise half of the stuff are missing and still en route in a different package - it's difficult to be 100% certain you're buying from the same merchant; some of the components don't arrive at all!

I was wondering what the interest of the members on here is in a hobby shop for electronic components and components in the immediate periphery?

Development boards, micro-controllers, stepper motors, semiconductors, breadboard, etc, etc, etc.. My biggest gripe is the local shops are ripping us a new one!

I'm drawing some inspiration from Dolby and phaktza who's running Smartkit focusing on the home automation market. I'm coming from a different angle in that I'm looking at the more granular level. So I'm focusing more on those individuals who want to get their hands dirty!

I hope I'm not stepping on Smartkit's toes here, we have an unspoken agreement that I won't sell what you gents do :)

So, any interest?

there used to be that one shop in commissioner street, my dad used to visit a lot,

AP electronics, and then it burnt down, had some really weird rules and fines for the staff.

think there is a few more in boksburg, but honestly most stuff is from china, and not made to be repaired.
thats why they stop existing anymore,

would love to see a AP electronics once again, my dad would visit it religiously.

We are interested in people who want to get their hands dirty - but predominantly on the home automation side. So flashing of devices, maybe using pre-made ESP8266 boards, open source software, building other devices using the aforementioned parts (this might overlap with what you're doing - but we won't be supplying anything but the controller parts) and so forth. However, feel free to get going on anything for hobby electronics - we could really compliment each other.

Noted. I will order a few 8266's, but out of principle won't advertise it. Call it a failover for when you don't have in immediate stock.

Yea but between Ali, eBay and locally electronics123, diyelectronics and a few others I can find most of what I want. Would love to see bulk imports of some stuff sold at better prices locally though. Would up the competition, improve delivery time and get pricing all round lower as well as kill off some more drop shippers.

I think there may be a few things we can cross-sell for each other. I'll see what we can do for each other once you have a catalogue.
