Any issues in Beacon Bay, East London

Hey myBB,

Anybody know of any issues in Beacon Bay, or having similar issues?

All of a sardine, about an hour ago I started having network issues.

My prepaid phone has full signal but when I try check my airtime balance, or anything, it says no network coverage (full bars but antennae with a not-equal sign).

My contract phone shows no signal and says no network coverage when I try a call.

Is it just me?

Had data issues earlier on too. This was not in Beacon Bay, but in West Bank.

Thanx Dan C, but I'm sure there is a tower down somewhere, maybe because of the wind we've had today.

I'm in Beacon Bay Valley and as soon as I get out onto the hills my signal comes back. I'm still having the same issue and I doubt both phone/sim combinations went fubar at the same time.

Where is Dr_Data when you need him?

Just in case anyone is interested, I'm still having the same issues.

I've worked out that if I put my contract Nokia N8 on GSM only, then I can make calls. MTN Coverage Helpdesk here I come.

Turns out they aren't open on public holidays. Aaaarrrggghhh!!!

Phoned Autopage and they confirmed with MTN that there is a tower problem in Beacon Bay.

Apparently it should be fixed during the course of today.

BTW, does anybody know how to check the location of the the various towers?
