Anyone setup iBurst on any of the following:

1. Mandrake 10.1
2. SuSE v9.2
3. Mandriva Linux 2005 Limited Edition

yes, you just setup PPPoE, SuSe and mandrake are very user friendly desktop softcore linux systems so just use thier existing ethernet connection wizard for ADSL, just setup the username and password and then click connect in the linux version of system tray next to the clock (assuming you're using KDE), its basically as simple as windows, well simpler because linux already detected and installed everything

Do I have to use the ethernet slot in Linux? I am using the USB slot to connect via iBurst in XP. Can I do the same in Linux?

Currently I am in linux via the ethernet

There isn't off the shelf support for USB for Linux yet, so you have to use ethernet

No issue at all. Just didn want to have to change between USB and ethernet depending on which OS I am running.

I assume a dual boot system? Else always run it through the Linux box. Or use ethernet on M$ Windoze as well.

yeah, I'm the same, but I think performance wise in linux you'll get a better deal with ethernet, but thats my opinion from my experience, theres no real evidence to suggest either method is faster, it just seems ethernet is faster in linux for me

Linux for me has always seemed faster: even on dial up. And it seems that it hasn changed.

slimothy: what Linux distro do you use? Oh and yes I am on a dual boot boot. Well trying to make it a triple boot - XP, SuSE 9.2 and Mandriva LE 2005.

Currently using the ibdriver with sucsess in:

- Fedora Core 3
- Fedora Core 4
- WhiteHat Enterprise Linux 4
- Custom embdedded kernels

On both UTC & UTD(eth & usb)

clean and elegant solution....

But as Slim indicated the IB terminal is a negative ... that is being solved though ;-)

For IPCop there is the Net-Traffic addon. Have mod'ed it slightly to show in / out totals and remainder (on Red based on 3GB). Will maybe look at doing a more decent mod for it sometime to allow saving one's own limit. Not as nice as the SWE2 BandView mod...

YaST,
Network Devices,
DSL,
Connection type PPPoE.

That is off the top of my head. Will check the proper path this evening when I get home.
