its that time where i need to upgrade my GPU, but looking at the new stuff prices are insane in SA.

like:
http://titan-ice.co.za/msi-geforce-gtx-760-2gb-twin-frozr-oc.html

the exact same thing:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127745&cm_re=Gtx_760-_-14-127-745-_-Product

thats a R1000 price difference even abit more
but sadly newegg wont ship to SA
even with a shipping price id take it any day over the local prices

so was wondering any international stores that ship to SA that are reliable?
i hurd amazon ships to SA

even there http://www.amazon.com/MSI-DisplayPo...400892049&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=MSI+gtx+760

way cheaper than here

Be careful, import costs (vat+handling/clearance) and decent shipping will eat up the majority of that R1000 difference. Also keep in mind that if something goes wrong with the card you'll have to pay to ship it back. I agree local prices are at a premium though.

I bought my Corsair Pro 1866 8GB RAM from amazon while back, had a good experience with them. took a while though (ordered on the 27 April and received 12 may with stander shipping options) but saved a few Rands (even with shipping and import included did not pay TAX as far as I am aware) was packaged pretty well. couriers was Aramex. door to door.

Now returning the RAM if something would to go wrong or was wrong...guess that's a different story lol no experience there, but I due a GPU upgrade and planning on using Amazon again. SA prices are MAL. :/

Once you include shipping and import fees the difference is a lot smaller. Also that Newegg price excludes sales tax.

I literally don't know anyone in SA that has a premium PC.

Premium is this case referring to owning an enthusiast level end GPU single or crossfire/sli.

I don't consider the GTX 760 premium at all, it's more mid-high range.

The fact is, we get paid less than muricans and we pay more, so you really need to be rich to have a premium setup in SA.

You can't compare US and SA prices, as US prices excludes tax, so it's not the final price you'd pay.

That depends on the state. If newegg doesn't have a store/warehouse/whatever in the state from where you are buying, no tax is charged afaik.

Not always the case, some states have imposed taxes on out of state purchases which the seller has to charge when shipping to those particular states. I think they will eventually all go this way else the lose out.

the fastest shipping option is 39.99$ which is 400 rand.. thats still 600 rand you save with the most expensive shipping option. http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=596186 thats still a big difference

also i dont care about premium or not.. i just want a GPU upgrade im not rich.. but i dont earn alot.. a GTX 760 is just perfect for what i want to do i dont care about perfect gfx, i checked benchmarks vs the equivalent ATI card it scores much higher, and from my current experience with ATI its ok but drivers dont get updated too much, games just run better with nvidia cards with physX
i just want a good deal.. and to me amazon looks cheaper either way.. just want to know if its reliable.. even if its just 100-200 rand cheaper its still cheaper... the problem is i dont want a broken gpu because the couriers take bad care of the packages thats all im worried about

From Newegg you are looking at around R3100 for the 4gb ($249=R2615, international shipping from my NY office R485 if the weight is between 2.5 - 3lbs) plus import vat depending on SARS mood (will be around R500 - R550 if they charge)

I see from newegg you also get free the watchdogs download code for the full game, I did a demo check out.

No state tax or usa delivery fees as newegg ship from NJ to NY without tax.
Delivery time about a week or so depending how quickly newegg ship and if SARS decide to do the nasty.

If you are in the Midrand area I can help you with this otherwise buy from Amazon, they will pack it ok
