Lol,

Maybe try to get these guys
http://www.memorydepot.com/11227-04-40G.htm $484
to price match it to NewEgg's price.

They have a $20 USPS not insured shipping on the thing to South Africa.
And $90 Fedex. Add customs and brokerage.

Actually Memory Depot looks cool. They offer cheap USPS shipping which is nice.... for cheap things.

You cannot buy from Newegg. They do not accept credit cards outside the US.

I have no issues with my FNB issued credit card, check out with paypal just fine, though they have verified my us addresses.

I literally don't know anyone in SA that has a premium PC.

Premium is this case referring to owning an enthusiast level end GPU single or crossfire/sli.

I don't consider the GTX 760 premium at all, it's more mid-high range.

The fact is, we get paid less than muricans and we pay more, so you really need to be rich to have a premium setup in SA.

You don't know very many people then...

Step on over to Carbonite and you will find numerous individuals with enthusiast setups.

You guys keep talking about tax on amazon, but i see nothing about paying extra tax just to certian states in the US because of new laws but nothing international... and people who have bought from amazon dont say anything about extra prices besides the shipping costs

Amazon global shipping includes tax prepayment.

If sent by USPS, sometimes you can avoid tax. Sometimes customs people don't levy taxes. This happens less often now but in the past they'd frequently ignore parcels declared as "gift".

exactly so lets say i want to buy:
http://www.amazon.com/MSI-DisplayPo...F8&qid=1401494688&sr=8-2&keywords=MSI+GTX+760

Shipping rates to south africa:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=596186

so thats 269.99$ + 39.99$ = 309.98$
which in rand = R 3277.79

if i were to buy a 760 4GB OC edition here that costs around 4500-5000 rand:
http://www.pricecheck.co.za/search/?search=Gtx+760+4gb

even the 2GB OC editions are around 3500-4000 rand...

i dunno maybe im not seeing things right here but thats a huge amount of money saved even if you take the most expensive shipping.

this seems too good to be true though, there must be some other costs? but as far as VAT i cant find anything about it and as the guy said its included in the shipping.

It's all. If tax is prepaid, it's prepaid. There are no extra fees on Amazon Global or Ebay PBI shipping.

I did some comparisons earlier and the price for the Vapor-X 980 card was the same as the local price. So this varies. Your top end items will prolly cost the same. It's the cheaper editions which may be cheaper than here, I guess.

It's quite funny how huge the price difference is between UPS expedited and FedEx economy. My Neato vaccum cleaner (estimated VAT at R400 according to FedEx) is being shipped by FedEx Economy. FedEx Express would have cost an extra $20. That's for a 7.6kg parcel.

The same range GPU's i could find in SA: http://www.pricecheck.co.za/offers/63286358/Asus+Gtx760+4gb+256bit+Rog+Striker+Edition/
http://www.pricecheck.co.za/offers/60155871/Gigabyte+Gtx+760+Windforce+Oc+4gb/

thats still 600-800 rand saved on most expensive shipping and that 4k cost is the same as you would get for a 2GB edition here in SA

if it fails, you'll have to courier it to Amazon for a replacement (very expensive). Then SARS will hammer you on the reshipped card. I don't know if Amazon declares reshipped items well or if SARS trusts them to pass them through without VAT; of if they'd swallow the VAT charge on your behalf.

That's the only risk I'd worry about.

But if you're not gonna overclock and the brand is good and unlikely to fail (I've had 2 out of 5 GPUs fail and one also giving problems. I don't oc).
