Any suggestions for a GWM Hover alternative?

You know what they say about fools - argue with him and he drags you to his level and beats you with experience - so i won't argue with you because you have the answers :) kudos to you

Irony. Delicious.

They also say: "a fool and his money are easily parted".

It's not about budget - if you read again the Toyota's were also on my list but the Hover is a more sensible deal. The problem is all these people running around in BMs etc and can't buy tyres or send the kids to good schools. Image isn't everything. So, twist it as you will - budget has nothing to do with this thread.

If you read back, I did mention the fact that money was no object as you were so proud to tell us yesterday.

As Confucius say : " He who turns down Fortuner in place of Hover has screw loose. "

It is not that money is no object but with 50k of extras added to the vehicle i still pay less thah 300k for something that will do the job just perfectly. Why pay R400 for the Fortuner? That's the argument.

Because it's incomparably better than a GWM.

@ shearder dude.

You sure you're only getting the abomination on Saturday? You haven't had it a while? I'm asking because you appear to be suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. Caused by the Hover leaking some into the cabin, only reasonable explanation for positive review.

That and your heavily contorted logic, money is no object but if you buy a BMW your kids can't go to school?

And yes. If I had unlimited money I wouldn't buy a BMW or Bentley or Rolls, I'd also buy a Hover. I'd buy all of them, to keep them off the road and save people from their awfulness.

KLAP to Codemaster! Didn't you know that money was no object???!!!!

Yeah, silly me for actually reading the OP

SNIP... But what alternatives are out there? I need the large boot space which needs to be open and accessible for my huskies. There needs to be front and back seats, as we have kids. Off-road capabilities is not required, and I'd prefer a 4x2. Diesel is much preferred to petrol. And I have a budget of R200k. So probably something 2nd hand. The Hover 2010 4x2 diesel out the box is currently on special for R163k.

Thanks folks!

My dear man, who would consciously go out and buy a car where they know that they are going to have to spend 40k on extras...I presume before the extra 35 k that gives it another couple of horses via Steves Auto Clinic...just because they think that a Fotuner is not good enough for them...?

Not forgetting the insurance going mental on his arse for all the "sports" extras.

I've got bad news for you. Your kids (the ones at the good schools) will ask you to drop them off a block away, in case one of their friends finds out that their old man drives a GWM.

Fair enough. Who needs insurance. It's not like someone wants to steal that thing. Crashes.. Mmm.. Some duct tape and paper mache should fit in with the rest of the "finishes".

O.. Shearder.. fuck all +10% is still fuck all

So the guy had 40k lying around to spend on extra's? and he still bought a GWM?

:D Sorry but this is sooo funny

A Hover with R40k extras is like R250k, right? For R250k:

Fortuner

Discovery 3

Pajero

Gee a 4x4 Fortuner with under 44 000km on the clock or a "pimped" Hover> Hmmm, let me think...

Methinks there's some shills in this thread.

I wouldn't touch Landrover - A couple of years ago a guy i worked with had a 110 that leaked like a sieve and had master cylinder problems etc etc. Not an option.

I don'y want second hand - but i want value for money. Hence the Hover.

OK...so tell me who was willing to insure it? ;)

Outsurance, Auto and general, Dial direct! That's who i have called. Not sure if that wink was simply a nervous twitch or you really knew there would be no problem insuring it and just kinda thought it would be a "last resort" question? But now you know who to call when you insure yours ;)

Oh the insurance is already arranged with one of them (not saying due to free advertising) but they had the best rates still and i am with them already for last 3 years.
