Anybody got a dead HP 530 laptop?

I'm looking for a keyboard from one of these old laptops.

One of the keys were damaged, so I got a new KB on eBay.

Laptop is not mine, trying to help someone out here, noticed the standard 1GB ram it comes with does not stretch that far...

Got it hooked up to a usb keyboard and running updates now, over a frigging GB of them

I still have the keyboard, the "7&" key is slightly damaged, it may be possible to fix this.

I have a few 1GB sticks, replaced mine with 2GB sticks.

I even have a T7600 2.33GHZ CPU that will work in the 530.

What's wrong with that key? I'm thinking I could disassemble that key on this laptop and use the key & little scissor plastic goodies to fix it unless the actual hooks they fit into are busted?

Either way one funky key beats an almost completely dead keyboard.

Key depression still works, but key seems to have split, stands out a bit.

At the time it was cheap to just get a new keyboard on eBay.

I just looked and I have that exact laptop laying in pieces here collecting dust. Keyboard is still in perfect condition. Only seem to have a 512mb stick of RAM but if you like you can take the whole thing? Not sure how to get it to you as I am in Cape Town - maybe you could send a courier to me? Let me know.

FML, I would have loved to buy that for mine - then I realised I have the HP 550 :/

Check the specs, it may work in that model. The T7600 works in models that can use the T7200.

A quick check reveals that it may work, just make sure.

It would be a lot faster.

Thx but don't strip a working laptop, rather donate it to someone. I format the HDDs on things like this, reprep them and give them away to people that have a need for them. Your crap is someone else's treasure

BTW, it is amazing how well that 530 can run with more RAM and a better CPU.

Of course, the graphics will always be slow !
