Finally. After close to 4 working days, I was able to login using TymeBank app. Transferred 100 rands into account to test. Will read up on thread to see what you peeps are using it to maximise benefit.

Gosh 160 pages.

Is there a TLDR version for this? Essentially, can I have 5 goal saves with 20K each and earn 9% ?

Open 10 goalsaves with R1 each. When closing one open it with another R1 and transfer what's left to the next.

Agreed rather prime 10 goalsave and put 10k in each to earn 9 %. Remember though, they will take 3 months to start earning the 9%. If I'm not mistaken they start at 6% for month 1, 7% month 2 and 3 and then 9% after 3 months.

Also keep in mind you cannot partial withdraw from a goal save. It's all or nothing principal in terms of withdrawing from one

Alright so from what I've read, would this be the smartest thing to do?

I have R100k that I would like to deposit into my TymeBank account, which I only opened yesterday. I have deposited R100 in so I can go and activate my card later (waiting for funds to clear)

Would the best thing for me to do be
  • Open 10 GoalSave accounts
  • Put 20k into 5 of them
  • Put R1 into the remaining 5
  • Wait
If not, what should I rather do?

Has anyone here withdrawn large amounts from their GoalSaves, were there any issues?

Also just making 100% sure, will interest be earned on the compounded interest from the R100k every month, even though the total amount will then be over the limit?

Sorry for the questions, I'm new to all of this :p

Hi @TymeBank @TymeGuy

I signed up for a new account last Friday. It was a fantastically easy process, I was surprised it worked so well.

I would like to know... Is it still not possible to verify the account without going to home affairs? ie, the kiosk told me it could not verify my biometrics... But no way am I going to HA to sort that out.

Thanks,

You'll have to wait for them to roll out "selfie" verification probably next year.

That would make R100,005. The limit is R100,000 so you'll have to deposit R19,999 in each of the 5. But deposit R1 into each of the 10 now so the interest clock starts ticking.

That too will work!

Very impressive. Transferred 100 rands from FNB after office hours yesterday and money is in now. I am now wondering why FNB to SB transfer takes a full 2+ days.

I am yet to get my card, also no way I will be setting foot at Home Affairs, the whole attraction to this is the ease of opening the account without having to deal with a human being, I would be very irritated if there are issues at the kiosk.

Does anyone know if 18 year olds with no history are able to sign up ? I tried with my son over the weekend but no luck . Almost all the questions were - none of the above - answers as he has no credit no cards no accounts no property . The only questions he could answer was his full name , when was the I’d card issued and how many if documents were issued . But it was not approved and was asked to call a number. Haven’t done that yet . Has anyone else succeeded ?

I did another transaction today at Pick N Pay as i needed some items.
When it came for the time to pay, card gave me an error *Chip malfunctioning*

I paid by tap and go. Judging by the irritation of the teller it seems its a common that happens.

How old is your card? To be fair my capitec card used to do that, went to get a new one at a cost and its basically no better. So thinking a lot of their machines are not great.

Card is not that old, maybe 2 months old or less and i have only used it twice.
So i am sure if maybe the card machine was acting up.

My guess is it was the pnp point of sale device. As I mentioned I really struggle in most of their stores.

So i transferred money from fnb to tyme on Saturday.
As soon as cleared i moved the money to 1 of my goal saves,. The transfer failed, but the money was deducted from my main account.
I logged a call and got a reference. I received an sms confirming my ticket was logged on Saturday, stating I will be updated on or before the 20th.
Still waiting for an update, and my money is still mia.

Have you tried using the card since? If so and it is still acting up, I would definitely suggest cancelling it and replacing it.
